Jesus died AND ROSE AGAIN for each and everyone of us so that humans should be restored to their original perfect happiness with God. This is a shared belief of all Christians including Catholics. And you're not a moron, you're just a person who wants to know more.
You might want to read the Bible, catechisms and such and contact some Christian communities to see what they believe and what they live...

This fact about vicarious atonement and sacrifice is something I feel contradicts the concept of God. Why should a single person suffer the brunt of thousands of sinners? This goes against God's justice and all His laws. Then why did God create Hell --- If every person could be redeemed by Christ's sacrifice then what was the need for Hell? This concept is also detrimental to social justice as it means that you could do all kinds of evil stuff and get away with it simply becuse you believe in Christ. These twists and turns to Biblical theology is a work of humans. Nowhere in the Bible can one find such concepts. Men cannot go on a spree interpreting God the way they want to. And what is more surprising is that people purposely overlook these contradictions and inequities in modern theology as if their understanding has taken a backseat. Any person who thinks objectively and logically will be able to find flaws with this theory. No wonder their is so much confusion over a simple religion.

i do not know why people have to e rude when they are answering the questions. I will try to answer this question the best I can. What is it to you that Jesus died for your sins? Without this you would have to pay the price for your sins. When Jesu died on the cross He paid the price for all sins past, present and future. So that all we have to do is seek forgiveness through Him and repent of the sin and we are forgiven, instead of having to suffer the penalty for the sin which is death. I do believe that catholics believe the same. There are a few minor differ ences between catholics and christians , at least as far as I know. I am not very knowledgeable about that religion. I hoped I have helped with this answer.

Well, New, to tell you the truth, its really stupid and makes no sense. First of all, somehow, the all-knowing makes a mistake and has to start over. I dont know whats up with that. SO he sends his son to die for our sins, when he couldve just forgiven us. Gods a Sadochist, obviously. So now we're all saved and stuff, that is, if we believe in something that is very vague and has no evidence behind it. Also, God randomly stoppped talking to everyone. There ya go, Christianity. Psalms-Revelations.

In the OT, God set up a means for mankind to commune with Him, but because of mankind's sinful nature they had to sacrefice over and over and over again in the hope that there would one day be a final sacrefice for all sin. Jesus was that one and perfect sacrefice for all sin. There is no need for another. He was it. His death on the cross meant that people everywhere could come and commune with God and have no fear that their sins would forever separate them from Him.

Our first parents sinned against God and ended up enslaved to God's enemy, Satan the devil.

Anyone who understands how slavery works knows that the offspring of slaves are also born into slavery.

So, all of us are born enslaved to Satan and dedicated the the one who is the enemy of God.

If we die in that decrepit state, it becomes permanent, and we become slaves to evil, forever.

There was nothing mankind could do to remedy the effects of Adam's sin, so God had to send his own son as a man, in order to save us.

Jesus Christ, the son of God, voluntarily allowed himself to be put to death by the forces of evil.

As this was in violation of God's law and justice, it became Satan's undoing.

All that Satan had gained from Adam's sin was legitimately taken from him and awarded to Jesus.

Now, all those who reject Satan and, in faith, swear allegiance to Jesus Christ and are baptized, become adopted children of God and co-heirs with Jesus Christ.

That done, through the good offices and sacraments of the church, which God personally established on the earth for our guidance and for our salvation, all are empowered by God's grace to come to know and love God, and to exist with him eternally in the next life, sharing in all that he is and all that he has.

All of the concepts I've just explained are Catholic concepts, based on the teachings of Jesus Christ and the apostles, based on the Bible, and based on the actual practices and experiences of the church, from the earliest days.

Non Catholic Christians reject certain Catholic concepts and substitute their own beliefs in their place.

It's left up to you to decide which faith tradition to adopt as your own.

I suggest the original, which is Catholicism.
