WoW!!....There's a lot couples can share besides the obvious!!
I think road trips are nice because it gives them time to catch up on things that weren't discussed during the week!! Just the whole atmosphere of laughing/talking and enjoying the scenery. A simple touch, a nice hug for no reason, holding each other, kissing and laying close w/out sex, talking on the phone for long periods of time, sending sweet text messages throughout the day, a good massage, cooking for each other, taking long showers or baths together, giving each other pedicures or facials, surprise visits at work, walking/exercising together, planning cookouts with family and friends, and anything else two people might enjoy doing!! Sex is healthy for a relationship, but by no means is it the main ingredient!! I think people often forget about all the little things that brought them together and through God what may keep them together!!

Sexual compatibility can be one factor on which a relationship is based but I've found that it shouldn't be THE basis for any long-term relationships. Based on 29 years of marriage, I'd say communication, a sense of humor, some common interests and prioritizing the relationship are major factors.
Communication - if you can't say what you want and you can't/won't understand your partner's requirements, any relationship is going down the tubes. More problems are caused by misunderstood expectations. Communication isn't always verbal; we've been able to come to decision with very few words because we've come to understand what the other person wants.
Sense of Humor -- Absolutely. There are times when all you can do is laugh. It can defuse tense situations and allow both of you to re-evaluate and come to a common solution.
Common Interests -- I said "some". One key point is realizing that your partner will not have the same tastes in reading, viewing, activities, etc. Allowing freedom in the relationship for each to pursue their own goals can do wonders.
Prioritizing -- Your relationship with your partner is only one of many that you have in life. There are connections to your family, your friends, work, social and professional organizations, etc. Both partners need to sit down and decide where their relationship is going to be in terms of what's important. A number of relationships have ended because one facet became the end-all, be-all and that facet wasn't the relationship between the partners.
Hope this helps.

Well, maybe we differ on something here, but love should be what makes you happy in a relationship. I think if you're in a relationship then love is the most important thing. I'm not a sappy sort, but I do think that is the most important thing in a relationship. From the way you phrased your question, it sounds like you think sex and love are the same thing. They're not, not by a long shot.

Sex is not THE most important but it is important. If you cannot connect physically it makes for an unhappy relationship.
However, my last relationship was completly founded on great sex. It lasted almost a year just because of the sex, but a relationship with only sex will fail in the long haul.
Besides sex and love the other things in a relationship are trust, reliability, and understanding.

It is an important part, but not the most important. I think you have to have love, communication, and trust along with sex to make a relationship work.
