when cooking the rice, cook it in chicken broth.. That brings out huge flavor to the rice. Take some chicken and tenderize the meat, bread it and fry it in olvive oil. Add the chicken to the rice, add a light dab of salt and pepper and a small wedge of lemon. Great simple meal right there. It's really quick. You can also add parsley to the rice cooking to give it a nice light flavor as well.
You can also try salmon and rice. get two cans of salmon -approx 2 qts. Debone, and set aside. Dice up half of a green bell or red bell pepper. In a large pan, add a dab of olive oil, and 1 clove of garlic. cook on high heat. Add the greenbell pepper, 1 whole chopped onion, 2 large cans of plain tomato sauce, ketchup, dab of tobasco sauce and worchester sauce. Add the salmon after a minute. Let it all cook on low to medium heat until the sauce thickens- approx 20-30 min.. At the same time, have a cup of white rice cooking. Add the salmon sauce to the rice on a plate and serve. .. Keep the two in separate pans.

Try adding garlic powder, cumin, chili powder, oregano to the raw rice before you cook it. By the same token, you could grind up a bouillon cube or a dried Chinese mushroom or two and ad that.
For cooked rice, I like soy sauce and butter together. Or soy sauce and toasted sesame oil. If you have pork floss, this makes a good third addition to the soy and sesame deal. (Ask a Chinese person from HK or Singapore if you aren't sure what pork floss is). Adding a tiny bit of vinegar or lime juice can perk up the other flavors.

Do you mean something you can cook and eat as a side dish, or just something you put on top?
If you want to cook, try to find an Indonesian or Indian cookbook and just try out the things that you think you'll like by looking at the pictures.
Don't think that you cannot find the spices. Every town or city has an Asian supermarket or shop nowadays.

man now you got me all hungry !! well I did some reaserch and this recipe sounds tasty and its from Emeril. ( let me know when its ready ok ) ha ha ha
2 cups sweet or glutinous rice
1/3 cup dried shrimp
1/2 pound Chinese sausage diced 3/4-inch pieces (available in Chinese Markets, no substitute)
2 tablespoons plus 2 teaspoons vegetable oil
1/4 pound boneless pork chops, 2 thin pieces, at least
1/4 cup chopped green onions, plus extra for garnish
1-teaspoon fish sauce
1 teaspoon thin soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon sugar
Black pepper
Nuoc Cham, recipe follows
Place rice in bowl and add enough water to cover by 2 inches. Allow to soak for at least 3 hours and up to overnight. Drain the rice in a colander and transfer it to a traditional bamboo sticky rice steaming basket, or another steaming vessel such as a colander or strainer that can sit above boiling water inside of another pot. Add water to the pot and bring to a boil. Add steaming basket with rice and cover. Steam rice for 30 to 45 minutes, until soft and sticky. (The length of time required to cook the rice will depend on how long the rice was soaked, longer soakings require less steaming time.) Remove the pot from the heat, uncover, and fluff with a fork. Keep it warm and fluff it again right before serving.
In a small sauce pan, place the dried shrimp and 1 cup cold water, and bring to a boil. Cover and simmer for 30 minutes. Drain and rinse under cold water. Dice the shrimp and place in a bowl and set aside.
In a dry saute pan, brown the Chinese sausage until brown on all sides. Remove and place in the bowl with the shrimp.
In the same saute pan, heat the 2 teaspoons oil and fry the pork chops until brown on both sides. Remove the pork chops and place in the bowl with the shrimp.
Meanwhile, heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a large wok over a high flame. Add the scallions and quickly cook for 3 minutes or until softened. Then add the pork, shrimp, and sausage, and fry for 1 minute, stirring well, then add the fish sauce, soy sauce, sugar, and black pepper. Continue cooking for 3 minutes.
Re-fluff your rice and place in a large bowl. Add the meat mixture to the rice, and, mix together. Press this mixture into a 8-inch round baking pan. It can then be turned out onto a serving platter and cut into 8 wedges. Sprinkle with chopped green onions and a drizzle of Nuoc Cham.
Nouc Cham:
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1 fresh hot chile pepper (about 1 1/2-inch long), finely chopped
1/2 lime
1/4-cup fish sauce
1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon sugar
5 tablespoons water
In a small bowl place garlic and chili. Squeeze in the lime and using a small knife, remove some of the pulp. Add the fish sauce, sugar, and water. Mix well.

Gravy, stir fry veggies, meat broth, and salsa. If you want a great dessert, add sugar, cinnamon, and a little milk to your rice and it will make a close rice pudding. But, you can actually mix anything with rice and it will be okay. <*)))><

I like to season my rice with the little packet of seasoning that comes with Raman noodles. I hardly ever eat the noodles. I mostly use them for rice. I also like adding peas. YUM!
