I hate to know that I waisted 5 of my points asking a question about Wal Mart. I work at a corporation that is soon to be moving our jobs to Mexico. We have been an American company since day one. It was the hard working Americans that gave the company the backbone it needed and the dollars in its pocket. So why are so many countries running from America. If it is the richest country in the world, why leave? How can Americans afford to buy American made products if they have no jobs? Just pissed off thats all, no hate for anyone. Your opinion.

Wal-Mart, aka "The Evil Empire" employs more people in America than anyone else except the Government. Having said that, I miss the Wal-Mart from the eighties, back when Sam Walton was alive, and it was all about "Made In America" products. Now 95% of the stuff they sell comes from China or elsewhere. The Walton family has really whored themselves out in order to compete in a global market, but can we really blame them? It's all about profit and nobody does it like Wal-Mart, except maybe the oil companies (bastards) who continue to show record profits while I'm still paying $3 a gallon at the pump. If this trend continues there won't be any jobs left in this country except Wal-Mart or washing people's car windows on the street corner for change.

The problem is that the labor prices are getting too high in the U.S. Our cost of living is so high that the labor unions are requesting more pay, and many of the originally "American" companies are shipping jobs overseas. They don't care that they are running our country into the ground because all they care about is money. If we don't find a way to lower the prices on goods and oil, more people will be starving or requesting pay raises. Do you really think Walmart wants to shell out the big bucks when they can get a foreigner to do twice the work for a quarter of the price? Our economy is getting ridiculous.

I totally agree with you. Companies like GM that say they are bringing jobs back home are full of bull (hey, that rhymed)!!! There are commercials right now for their cars that say they use German engineering. Apparently, no one is proud to be an American anymore. It is times like these where I wish that an accountant would run for the presidency. Maybe we could get our healthy economy back.

Wal-Mart has both good and bad effects on jobs in America. The bad effect is that they put other companies out of business. The good is that they: make business more efficient, drive down the prices for goods (which allows more people afford "luxuries"), and the company provides many jobs.

Companies leave America for other countries usually due to tax rates. The Democrats keep raising taxes, which raises the operating costs of producing goods, which are then passed on to the consumer... its a vicious cycle. Basically, our politicians need to foster an environment in which businesses can thrive. This will provide jobs and tax revenues for America, and lower our trade deficit.

Personally, I think that all corporate tax breaks should be removed for companies that move out of the USA.

Well I have worked at Wal-Mart for 3 out of the 4 years its been in this small little Pennsylvania town. For about 2 years before it openned there was an uproar from local business owners who fought against it. Many were afraid its arrival would cause them to go out of business, but quite the opposite happened. Local merchants business has infact increased and several have even expanded.

As for Wal-Mart being only out to make money for themselves that is a load of bull-honky. Wal-Mart is greatly involved with giving back to the community, for example we had a local family's house burn down late Christmas Eve and our managers went and opened the store on Christmas and matched the Red Cross fund to purchase clothes, food, and personal care items as well as toys for the children to replace the presents lost in the fire.

Corporations, especially the big multi national ones, don't give a damn if Americans can afford to buy their goods or not ... they aim for the global market .. While they're still on American soil, they use cheap illegal labor to build up a massive profit ... then they relocate overseas, or in Mexico or other Latin American countries, set up a tax base in a cheap country, and export their goods worldwide ... you didn't really think you, as an American, count? Have you heard about the war on the middle class? It's unfortunately a reality ....

businesses out source so they do not have to pay union wages or health and retirement benefits to employees who are not as well represented as in the states. it's a money making venture for them. we continue to buy the products because outsourcing helps drive down consumer cost. it also depresses wages because companies know they can always hire a cheaper labor force over seas so unions can't push too hard for fear of a company closing up shop and out sourcing. wal mart is a great example though they've done it domestically. wal mart employees tried to unionize. rather than negotiate wal mart closed the store putting all those people out of job.
wal mart is no better than your former companies. they pay american employees criminally low wages, over charge them for health care so most employees opt not to take it (alleviating wal mart from having to pay it's share), and then they buy most of their products from overseas where slave/child labor and sweatshops are rampant. yet they proclaim themselves as some sort of american company. doesn't sound like it.

first of all, America isn't the richest country in the world. It may be the most powerful country, but not richest. And it isn't that hard working at a wal-mart. I wouldn't really consider those ppl working at walmart hard-working. Most of those stores are all messy and dirty.

Wal-Mart's a Good Thing, but there's such a thing as too much of a good thing. Wal-Mart's also a symptom of the globalization thing, a problem where corporations can't read maps and stuff and don't think in terms of their impact on national and local economies. If money was water, think of your local business owner as having a 1-inch garden hose. Wal-Mart's a 6-ft. pipe. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSHHHHHHH! LOL

Actually walmart has been extremely successful due to alot of immigrants working and i really appreciate the fact that that's how all it all got jump started, but it still doesn't change the fact that illegals can just use that as a crutch, it just so happened that they helped walmart become a success but at the same time, the idea behind walmart was its initial success. Due to American ingenuity. I think that immigrants can take the time to be American citizens and that's all there is to it.

Wal-Mart is bad...blah,blah,blah....my gosh...what a bunch of facist pigs! It is capitalism....move to some socialist country if you are so against it. I am SICK to death of everyone capping on Wal-Mart. If we could get the Floridians, New Yorkers, New Englanders and Californians out of the mix....we might actually like Wal-Mart! Majority still rules in the US! Business is business, it is not personal....stop making it personal!
