Don't be selfish. You felt He ignored YOUR wishes, YOUR prayers. Have you ever thought that there are people in this world that are less fortunate than you? You see it all over the news, as you stated. Another thing, God can't help what our nation is turning into. It's up to us. If you pray for something but don't help yourself as well, there's no point. For example, you can't pray for peace and be out there fighting and killing in the war. He is God, but can he help the fact that people are too caught up in greed? Some people are taken over and what can you do? That's how it is. That's what makes being a believer of God all the more challenging. You don't understand his ways, and more so, why should you be given the honor to? It's been said time and time again, "God works in mysterious ways." This is where your faith is tested. What happened in your life is no reason to stop believing in God. Your mother was taken at the time that she was because that is how it was meant to be. If she was as devout as you convey her, she had a bigger purpose in heaven. The faith in God despite the shortcomings you percieve is what makes you stronger. I know that it's not going to lessen the anger that you have, but that's all part of it. "The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is an attribute of the strong." - Mahatma Gandhi. If you still don't believe in God, which you are completely entitled to, at least believe that there is still some good in the world and good people out there. I hope you don't dismiss this as preachy crap, because it's just my own opinion. I've had to convince myself of God's existence and good in the world many times, not to mention accept that I won't get all the answers. Good luck with that.

So what's all the hate and cold heart doing for you that's making your life better?
When did you come to know the Lord as your Savior ?--- did you work on having a personal relationship with Him or was it just asking the Lord to grant your wishes (I seen a lot of guys go through that and then when things don't happen they become disheartened and walk away) --- I have learned in Christian life there are : warriors, worshipers, intercessors and slackers--- most of us fit one or more of those characteristics --- reading your post - now, this is my opinion --but you have the make up of a worshiper and they don't do well in warlike situations --- think about it --- by any chance are you good at writing ---poems or stories? Get your bible and read Job --- when you're done I hope you rededicate your life to Christ --- ask Him to open up your heart and bring forth the worship that is inside of you.... then find a church to attend and grow in wisdom and knowledge...

Things happen that God didn't want to happen. That doesn't mean that it won't all be OK in the end; God's infinitely patient in working with this world until it completely manifests the plan for beauty and harmony. The vision at the end of Revelation is true; God will wipe away every tear from every eye. But in the meantime, we're here, and the only thing we can do, is to do everything in our power to help God manifest that plan. Truth, meaning, beauty, and solace all exist even in the midst of your darkness. Just give up on the idea that God can "zap" the world to perfection, but doesn't choose to. God can't. The world has to grow to perfection under God's guidance. We're just smack dab in the middle of the process, so of course, there's a lot of darkness, but there are also shafts of light. Your pain itself, your longing for deliverance, is proof that that deliverance will come.

Obviously you have lost your focus. And nothing that I can write will help you find your focus. So I will be brief and to the point.
Heaven is where God is; hell is where God is not. Earth is where man is. How does man get to God?
God is spirit (wind), and we worship him/her/it (God has no gender) in spirit and in truth. This is my God which has little if no resemblance to yours.
Why does man suffer? You seem to want a logical answer. But there is no logical answer, only belief. There just doesn't seem any way in reconciling what happens to us and what God is for us. When everything is lost and without hope, my God is the only way out for me. What is your way out?
I said I would be brief, so I will end with this last thought. What do you believe? If you are saying all this has happen, my belief should or has changed, maybe you are finding your real belief.

First, let me thank you for serving in spite of your beliefs. I support our troops because I know they do not like war...but are doing what they must...and I imagine it applies to both sides. In many ways, I don't feel this is a people war...but rather a power war between troubled countries...and in their hearts...they want the same things we do..."Peace"...and are torn between God and country.
God is bigger than this...He knows what is in the hearts of man...and I know this is hard to believe...but this could lead to a thousand years of peace and prosperity for everyone; if we keep our faith in something greater than ourselves. It is causing people from all of the world to review the madness and say, "No more. I don't want this." In an ironic twist, it is somehow bringing us together, not just as a nation...but as a people of the world. You did your part...and now you must go onto better things.
You understand suffering. This was given to you for a reason. It hardened your heart...but you will emerge from it a better person for it...and have much to share. Your mother is still with you. She never left you...and she wants you to go forth and be happy in your life. What you are going through will give you great strength...and understanding.
Learn to balance your view of the world with things that are good, things that will help you to find your joy again. Not all depression is bad...because it slows you down, makes you think...and say, "Why?" This serves a purpose. We should question it...now it is time for you to move on.
There is much beauty in life if you care to find it. Start immersing yourself in things that inspire you, things that bring a smile to your face, things that bring the Love deep inside you to the surface. Restrict your exposure to the news. Let God handle it. It is in good hands. You no longer need to participate in it. Turn your focus to those in need, in your own hometown. Volunteer your services at a homeless shelter...it will give you new eyes. May the Peace be with you...I know you'll find it.

God doesn't cause us pain , satan does . He is of the world and not of God . He wants to kill and destroy and trap you in your own despair . He lies to you and is drawing you away from God . If you truly believe that God exists , know this , He will crush satan soon and will take vengeance on all who deny Him . John 14:6 Believe and allow Jesus to take away your burdens . God loves the whole world and sent Jesus His son to tell us all by letting Him be hung on a tree . If that isn't love I don't know what love is . May He come into your heart and relieve you of your loss and pain . God bless you .

I empathize with you... Very sorry to hear about your mom.
Your numbness is a natural response to pain and suffering...
If this may help you...
I used to be an atheist. Over a period of time however, I grew convinced of the existence of the Christian God, and ultimately committed my life to Christ (e.g., see http://www.godsci.org/gs/chri/testimony/seek.html ).
Cordially,
John

the reason all of this is going on is because the world is becoming more and more corrupted with crime and such. remember the city that God forced the people to move out of, and if they turned back to look at it, they would turn to a pillar of salt/sand? God did that because all of the corruption in that city, he destroyed it. and thats kind of whats going on now. he's either destroying it, letting it go and letting us destroy it ourselves, or a nasty combonation of the two. the bible talks about this stuff in revelations. read it. even if you don't belive in the bible, read just the book of revelations (last book in the bible) just to compare what it says to what is happening in the world now.

It is not because of God that these things are happening, it is because of Man.
Man rebelled against God, forsaking the perfection for which he was made.
You cannot blame God for the selfishness and injustice of Man. God is not the one bringing these things about; The human race is.
I think it's time that the human race woke up and started realizing that these things are our fault, and stop blaming them on God.
