Loft 21 is furniture at Pier 1 Imports. They have a great selection, but a lil pricey. You can also get a decent futon from Wal-Mart for a good price.

It's hard to get furniture up the stairs to a loft!
For the big items --sofa, loveseat, easy chair, consider this great company that SHIPS THEM IN PIECES so you bolt them together only after you carry the boxes to the loft.
You can disassemble them and move them elsewhere later.
You can replace the upholstery if there's a catastrophe.
The cost is low and the look is professional.

CB2. it's an ofshoot of crate and barrel. pretty decent stuff. rather modern but with classic lines if you're into that.
