In resorting to force, Muslims do not have a problem finding passages in the Quran and Hadith that will not only condone violence, but also demand it.
In the Quran, Allah orders Muslims to terrorize non-Muslims in His behalf:
"Strike terror (into the hearts of) the enemies of Allah and your enemies." Surah 8:60
"Fight (kill) them (non Muslims) and Allah will punish (torment) them by your hands, cover them with shame." Surah 9:14
"I will instil terror into the hearts of the unbelievers, smite ye above their necks and smite all their finger-tips off them. It is not ye who slew them; it was Allah." Surah 8:12-17
"O ye who believe! Fight the unbelievers...let them find firmness (harshness) in you and know that Allah is with those who fear Him." Surah 9:123

In the Hadith (Mohammed's sayings), Mohammed also urges Muslims to practice Jihad.
Mohammed once was asked: what is the best deed for the Muslim next to believing in Allah and His Apostle? His answer was: "To participate in Jihad in Allah's cause."Al-Bukhari vol 1:25
Mohammed was also quoted as saying: "I have been ordered to fight with the people till they say, none has the right to be worshipped but Allah." Al-Bukhari vol 4:196
It is worth noting here that the words "fight" and "kill" have appeared in the Quran more frequently than the word "pray."
Islam teaches that people are divided into two different camps; Dar al Harb (The abode of war), and Dar al Islam (The abode of Islam). Those who belong to Dar al Islam are the Muslims who are in a constant state of war with Dar al Harb who are the non-Muslims, until such time the non-Muslims convert to Islam. In other words, Muslims can never peacefully co-exist with non-muslims.

For me this would be a sad teaching no matter where it is found. But as an American, and with our media hyperbole, we should be very careful in what we consider unacceptable in others teachings, because if all we had were our media and current political arena to be our teachers, we would be upholding these teachings, just with different names, chapters, and verses. However, as a follower of Christ with a personal relationship in Spirit and in Truth, I do find the teachings to be ones I do not want to teach my children or to even learn for myself, as I like the way Jesus taught.

Those battles ended 1400 years ago. Every one that the Quran says to 'fight' and 'kill' were people who were fighting Mohammed. They were the idolaters of Arabia. They did not include Jews or Christians, for they are Muslims, too.
Just as the Bible describes ancient battles, so does the Quran. The Quran is not a Commandment, but, rather a guide. It says that if you are at war and the other side wishes to stop, you should stop. 'There is no compulsion in religion'. (Quran)
Anyone who does not believe in Islam can still go to Heaven if they believe in one God. Anyone who is Muslim and rejects Islam, must answer only to God. The Quran says that he is not to be persecuted, God will take care of that himself.
All of the verses that you cite were directed at people who are long-dead. When the Quran says 'fight the unbelievers', it means the idolaters of Arabia who declared that Islam was illegal, and that its followers should be killed (the people of Mohammed's time). Christians and Jews are believers.
It has nothing to do with 'non-Muslims'. It has to do with the Quresh, the ruling tribe of Arabia, who were idolaters (non-believers in the one true God). It is a historical document, not some immortal covenant. Radicals, however, teach otherwise. This is where the Bin Ladens get their power.

OUT OF CONTEXT...
Each and every word is out of context... ur just a kid trying too hard to get it right...
on a serious note...
these are just a few tricks that non muslims are actually TAUGHT - to quote the Quran out of context...for the above...
COMMON SENSE will prove this wrong.
READ ON...
- a common complaint among non-Muslims that Islam would not have millions of adherents all over the world, if it had not been spread by the use of force.today, THERE ARE 14 MILLION Arabs who are Coptic Christians i.e. Christians since generations. If the Muslims had used the sword there would not have been a single Arab who would have remained a Christian.
“Let there be no compulsion in religion: Truth stands out clear from error” [HOLY QURAN 2:256]
"Invite all to the way of thy Lord with wisdom and beautiful preaching; and argue with them in ways that are most gracious" ( Quran 16:125 )
Which lot of muslims are forcing people in the West to accept
Islam in such large numbers? - certainly not if they understood the quran that way this person is trying to potray.
- the verses are REFERRING TO A BATTLE which took place in islamic history- where the aggressors broke their CONVENANT with the prophet. It was then that These verses were revealed to boost the morale of the small and tiny muslim army hardly 500 ppl. or so. where the aggressors where more than triple in no. -
With the ongoing war in iraq, the general of american army will boost the morale of the army in a similar fashion...DOES THAT MEAN all americans are supposed to kill iraqis everywhere they find them?? - that would be out of context again...
- on the contrary the Quran sets rules for wars! - no muslim can hurt a woman or child during it... shouldnt cut down trees - no torturing of animals - MOREOVER the Quran asks muslims in battle to ESCORT the enemy to a safe place and feed them in case they are captured.!!!
-- WHICH MODERN DAY ARMY SETS SUCH LAWS ??? WHICH ONE?

In the Bible, God tells Christian to terrorize non Christians on His behalf:
Suppose you hear in one of the towns the LORD your God is giving you that some worthless rabble among you have led their fellow citizens astray by encouraging them to worship foreign gods. In such cases, you must examine the facts carefully. If you find it is true and can prove that such a detestable act has occurred among you, you must attack that town and completely destroy all its inhabitants, as well as all the livestock. Then you must pile all the plunder in the middle of the street and burn it. Put the entire town to the torch as a burnt offering to the LORD your God. That town must remain a ruin forever; it may never be rebuilt. Keep none of the plunder that has been set apart for destruction. Then the LORD will turn from his fierce anger and be merciful to you. He will have compassion on you and make you a great nation, just as he solemnly promised your ancestors. "The LORD your God will be merciful only if you obey him and keep all the commands I am giving you today, doing what is pleasing to him." (Deuteronomy 13:13-19 NLT)

Well even though muhamed acknowlegded that Jesus existed, there is a split in the direction that the two faths takes from there. Personal belief, not I don't think that threat of death is a good way to help/teach people that watch you believe will do something for them.

It is also in the bible. Jesus said I've not come to cancel the law but to fulfill it. Well in the old testament, the bible says there is a time to kill and and time to heal. And even Jesus used violence the day he ran the marketers out of the synagogue. There is a time to use violence. but an appropriate time.
