i have a personal dvd player for my daughters and the sound is so quiet. it is a philips and cost me £250 so was not an inferior one. is it quiet because really it is best used with headphones? can you buy speakers to put in them?

yes you can plug in the same type as you can use on personal CD player get from Argos about 10 pounds bought sum about 5 months back

I would maybe take it back to the shop, make sure it isn't faulty. I have a Philips one and have no problems with the sound. I have hearing difficulties and when I have it on full volume it's too loud, even for me. If you can't take it back, I would suggest getting headphones that have a volume control on them, should help make it louder. I had mini speakers years ago that I bought for a CD player, they fit into the headphone socket of the portable DVD player too. Bit bulky tho to carry round.

just check out the ports coming out the back of the machine. The one for sound, see the port and go and by speakers, it doesn't have to be a philips specialist set. Any speakers will do

Yes, the same speakers you purchase for your computer are the exact ones that will work for portable DVD player. Go to your electronics store ans ask for them. In the US you can buy them for as low as $15.

Yes. If the dvd player is battery powered, then it is best used with headphones .Small speakers are available but they will drain the batteries more quickly.
