I'm not an Atheist but loved your question!

Atheists are without belief in God...but they come here and post and answer "religion" based questions. Okay, I can understand asking questions that are religion based but how can they answer such questions when they don't have a belief in God?

Too funny!

I don't have a religion, I believe in no higher power at all. This section is for asking and answering questions pertaining to religion and spirituality. Do you assume because I don't believe in God I know nothing about religion? I am interested in culture, religion is a part of my culture whether or not I practice it. Most intelligent people like to learn, debate, discuss and are interested in many things whether they practice them or not. I don't bash anyone for their religious beliefs. Knowledge is the key to tolerance, the more someone understands something the more accepting they often will become.

I don't worship a diety ... though I do occasionally worship Jennifer Connelly. She's the most attractive female alive.

How do we fit in? We serve as a balance. Abraham Lincoln acknowledged the need to hear from the other perspectives when he formed his cabinet, appointing several individuals who wouldn't simply agree with him. If you do not hear the opposing view, how can you possibly hope to make an informed decision?

I do not have any religious beliefs or practices ... I have found, through searching through the beliefs of the world's religions, that my personal views are most closely approximated by ancient Chinese Taoist philosophers. I also agree with some of the concepts presented in Buddhism, but not all of them and not necessarily as they are traditionally interpretted.

A person can be spiritual without being religious.
Tens of millions of people do not believe in God, yet are affected by those who do.
These people have thoughtful and serious opinions about religion and spirituality, and often wish to share them with others.

The problem with many religious people is that they seem to believe that anyone who does not share their faith is wrong, bad, or at the very least doomed to eternal damnation.

Many people find this disconcerting.

It's a Questions and Answers forum. In order to get a clear idea of anything concerning Religion and Spirituality, we need to see all sides, including the lack of belief.

To begin with, just because we don't have a religion, doesn't mean we don't have a spiritual life. Secondly, religions affect everyone in a variety of ways (religious holidays like Christmas have to be observed by everyone, most of us have Christian names, other people take decisions that affect us, based on their religious beliefs, etc.) So, even though we aren't religious, we are greatly affected by religions, so why wouldn't we have the right to give our opinions on things that affect us so much?

BTW, I don't bash anyone. I just give my opinion. And I do so strongly and firmly, just as I feel it. I'm sorry if anyone feels "bashed" by that, I don't mean it personally.

I worship the Sun. I believe only in things that can be proven to exist. The Sun is the closest thing to a god that I know of. It is the most powerful force in our solar system and is responsible for all life on earth. It provides heat, moves the planets, allows plants to grow, and is the oldest body in our solar system. Its unlimited energy can be harnessed by solar panels to create electricity to run electronics, machines, and cars.

There is no requirement to talk about our beliefs in here, this section is for discussing the subject of Religion and Spirituality. Do you have to believe in Isis to discuss the tenants of her cult and faith?

Atheisim is rooted in a deep respect for *truth*. Atheists reject ideas that contradict rational thought- for example, the ridiculous notion that a woman who had never had sex could give birth to a child. Anyone who uses their sense knows that this cannot be true.

Truth is more important than religion.
