Now I realize that I disagree pretty strongly with pretty much everyone who adheres to a certain religion very strongly, but there's a fine line that everyone needs to find here. The problem with everyone here at yahoo is everyone's talking but no one's listening. I am a buddhist which isn't a religion so I'm technically an atheist too, which has nothing to do with Beelzabub.
Too many people on the theist and atheist sides seem to be asking questions just to enforce their large egos. Ask a question to make a point or get an answer. If some one believes in God that's great, use that to be a good person not to have some kind of bs from a book to quote arbitrarily or discount to your advantage.
On the same token atheists shouldn't ask a question just to be a jackas*.
So why does this page feel like two sides fighting a stubborn battle where no one will ceed any ground to the opposing side? How about we ask to learn or to make a point you think might help change some one for good.

So who else thinks this could fix yahoo! answers? A little more intellect and less close minded ego rants, and less quoting without any back up.

And I'm not trying to generalize, that was partly my point, just only had 1000 characters, haha. But I mean I like people who practice religion on their own terms and realize it's a personal belief which has no bearing on my life or any one else but theirs. I don't like people who decide what they believe applies to everyone, hence the title.

By the way, I don't really care what buddhism is considered to be, it really isn't a religion, Sidhartha ("the Buddha") didn't like the idea. He didn't want followers, he wanted to help people who wanted to be helped with what he finds to be a good way to live morally. A religion usually constitutes worship or laws or some kind of belief, buddhism is more about finding the truth for yourself with somewhat of a guide, no beliving or worshipping.

I have to be honest, the repeated squabbles between 12 year olds on religious theory is quite entertaining though. Just not all the time and maybe a little less bigotry would be nice is what I'm saying.

What's the difference between asking a question to make a point, and asking a question to enforce your ego? And... which one are you doing?
The well-conceived but poorly-implemented idea behind Answers was that people would ask questions to get answers, not to get a date or make points or criticize people. That's why yours is a Question, not a Statement, or a Point, and why mine is an Answer, even if it doesn't have a Question to go with it.
And forgive me for saying so, but Buddhism is widely recognized as one of the world's five major religions. Just like the Christians who say "it's not a religion, it's a relationship," saying it doesn't make it so.

Nah, won't work. When they are so arrogant they think they know more about the Christians religion and Bible than the Christians do, they are wanting to argue. I really don't think I've ever heard of any more arrogant fools, with the exception of teenagers, in my life. If they want to continue like that, I think they need to go to another site, after all, this is for RELIGION & SPIRITUALITY, athiest doesnt believe in God so how do they have Religion? They don't. I know there are a lot of different religions out there, but athiese isnt one, Satan worshipers is a religion. Athiest believe in neither, so why are they ever bothering to be on this sight.

The problem with religions is that everyone takes so strongly to heart their faith that the idea of it not being 100% percent right is earth shatterig for them. So when someone of a different religion questions them, then the biggest way to avoid that earth shattering moment for them is to blast someone tat questons their views.
I am Catholic. My best friends growing up were Jewish and Buddists. We discussed the differences in our religions all the time, but I never figured thier ideas were any less relevant or deep. They were simply different.
The key to stopping events like this from going down is to quit thinknig that just because someone is different from what ou believe means that they are worng. What they are is simply different.

Please don't generalize... I am part of "everybody" and I listen as much as I speak. I might not agree with everyone, but I need to hear other opinions, if for no other reason, to help me clarify for myself why I believe what I believe. Doesn't mean "I'm right and you're wrong" either.
But I do agree with you that there are too many people who ask and answer questions with insulting or hateful wording... A bunch of them I am sure just want to make trouble. But if we'd all stop name-calling, this forum would be a better place.

Similarities and variations aren't principal if the definition one is utilising quantities to 'now not certainly one of us'. You will realize that there are dictionary definitions that might enable any faith that's now not monotheistic to be referred to as pagan. By that definition a Muslim or Jew would incorporate Christian as a pagan faith. Hindu, a faith from which Judaism and eventually Christianity, and Islam will also be considered as both mono or polytheistic, so it falls into pagan or now not pagan, relying on how you spot Hindu. Many men and women suppose Buddhism to be any of mono poly, or atheist. Again, you would suppose of a Buddhist as a pagan, or now not, headquartered on the way you suppose of Buddhism, and whether or not you employ the 'now not monotheistic' definition. So the monotheistic Satanism is also much less pagan than Wicca, by means of one definition. If you ought to make high-quality differences, you ought to be ready to outline your possess phrases.

Good for you! The word "religion" means "to bond". Too many self righteous jackasses have bonded with a set of dogmas that have out ranked the All-Mighty! They serve the wrong master. It's like the old saying goes, "I'm sorry, but my karma just ran over you dogma"! To hell with organized religion!!!
