Its mostly because boyswant to be seen as cool. Niceness at that age is considered a sign of weakness, and most boys don't want to look weak. MEN on the other hand, know that kindness and compassion is a sign of strength, integrity, and character. I hope their parents teach them this, but like most parents, probably just enforce the simple rules like "go to bed on time" and not the important ones like "be kind and polite to all."

Hmm, well, probably because it's the way they think that they should treat girls. Just keep being nice to the girls and the girls will respect you for it. The guys who are jerks to girls will find out sooner-or-later that guys who are nice to girls end up with *better* girls!

The sad truth is that's what works. Despite what they will tell you the ladies almost universally prefer the asshole over the nice guy. Look at me, man, I 've been nice to them all my life and I'm sitting here on the internet answering questions instead of getting laid. No justice, bro, no justice.

It's not only your age. Most of the time, it's not seen as "cool" to be polite because a guys friends will laugh at him or tease him... In other words, they're too weak to treat a girl right. (Peer Pressure)

Guys in your age group are still learning social skills. Although you are considered a teen, most of you are still caught between childhood and young adulthood.

They're immature and are trying (in vain) to impress the girl. They think that if they are mean, it will make the girl like them more. WRONG. Be nice to girls. They'll be nice back. :)
