Lemon juice tends to make the hair more orange than anything else.
I've tried to lighten my hair and one product that works for the summer is called "Sun In". Spray it where you want it and stay in the sun for a while. My bangs turned very light brown-almost blonde (I have medium brown hair). So, if you can't dye it, then give that a try.
Hope that helps!

p.s DON'T use bleach or hydrogyn peroxcide!!! It's horrible for your hair and is a sure fire way to make your hair orangey!!!

Over a long period of time, the lemon juice will turn it blonde, but, like I said, it will take some time. Bleach would probably just burn your hair, and make it break. Hydrogen Peroxid and sun would be your best bet.

I have heard of the lemon juice, but be careful, I am not sure what color it will be since you have the dark brown hair. do not use bleach, it will ruin your hair. do it before school starts so that you have time to grow it out if you don't like it.

bleach is going to turn it orange. you could try lemon juice but it is not permenent, it will eventually wash out and it make your hair really hard while it is in there. you should probably just listen to your mom and wait until she will let you do it, that way you can go to a salon and have someone do it right.

Lemon juice will lighten your hair, but yes, it will turn it an orangish shade. As for bleach, you would need hair bleach (i used wellite bleach) and developer, which are things you can find at Sally's beauty supply. (I wasn't sure if you were referring to "bleach" like clorox or something)

if you put lemon juice on your bangs and SIT IN THE SUN you should be fine, I am not totally sure what color you will get out of it, but I know it will turn your hair lighter ... I have red hair and did this for streaks and I got blond ... seeing as how you have dark brown hair, I am not sure what color it will turn out ... but I know it will be lighter ... GOOD LUCK!!

if you put lemon juice in your hair and then go in the sun it will lighten it. it wont be really drastic but it will be noticable. i did the same thing when I was a kid!! Lemon juice won't make it turn orange!!

did that when i was young and it doesn't always work. you need to sit in the sun for a long time for it to start working. don't use regular bleach it will fry your hair and may get in your eyes and cause damage.
