Of course it can, it makes you feel better about how you look. But it should not be the first choice, if someone can fix something they don't like about themselves (such as weight) they should lose it themselves instead of resorting to a life-threatening procedure. Also, you should learn to accept yourself the way you are.

No. Plastic surgery is not an answer for building self-esteem. Knowledge, an outgoing personality, being fit and healthy are all esteem builders. Remember, no matter how much plastic curgery you may have, eventually you will get old and look the part. Esteem comes form confidence and that is attained through hard work and going through different experiences.

absolutely. if you hate your nose and suddenly it's normal; if you have a deformity and suddenly it isn't so stand-outish; the thing you obsess about is just gone? yeah i think so. have u ever seen someone with a cleff palate (or however u spell it) they would feel so much better with a normal shaped lip. i've seen some of those drastic remake shows and people just balling because they finally don't feel like a freak any more.....poor guys! i always cry with them!

Usually people can tell when you've had it, and you just look fake. Why not make the best out of what you have? I think people usually look better au naturale, rather than trying to surgically fix everything.

It can, but some people get so fixated on it, they lose perspective.
Look at Michael Jackson. Surgery gone berserk.

Possibly, but to what end? The media tends to hide it but there are many botched plastic surgeries, sometimes even death.
