Hello all and thanks for all the help!
Actually my ex boyfriend and i have been good friends for 3 years before we started dating. Last september we started dating for five months, we are both graduate students in the same department and the same building you could even say the same floor. Breaking up was his choice, he was my first boyfriend, he said he was inlove with me and 2 weeks after breaking up he was with some one else. Since we work in the same place, i have managed real hard to separate work from emotions. We talk every now and then, we are always nice to each other. For three years, i have remebered his b-day, this would be his 4th since i knew him, we are still working in the same place? i do NOT want to get back with him, eventhough i miss him, he clearly doesn't miss me, so i am not trying to get back with him. Should i wish him a happy b-day or not, if yes, would it be by calling or emailing an online card? it has been 5 months since the break up. Thanks:)

The problem is he knows i know when is his B-day, if i did not aknowledge it then he will know i mean not to and if i do, i dont know what he'll think. It's important to me to show i have moved on, but would ignoring his b-day show that or show how hurt i am??? i am sorry, it is just hard because we are in the same work place and we still talk because i act all cool and careless. thank you..thank you

I wouldn't bother if I were you. And not to worry either. He has a new girlfriend that can wish him the happy birthday. Unless everyone at work is also wishing him a happy birthday and you "throw one in" with them, you have no emotional obligation to do so. He's a big boy. I'm sure he won't die if you don't wish him a HB.

That's a tough one. But since you still talk to him I would wish him a happy B-Day. Because everyone deserves at least a verbale happy birthday. I would call him. But if you want to get back with him I would send him a card on email.

Magic 8 Ball says
NO
You'll only look desperate.

Actually you could try to slip it in a conversation if you over hear another co-worker wish him a happy b-day. In an "oh yeah, happy birthday"

I'd wish him a happy birthday if you happen to see him on or near that day, but only in person. Otherwise it looks like you're trying too hard.

Of course you should! Why not? I'm sure he understands that you two will not get back together, but there's certainly nothing wrong wtih remaining friends.....as long as you both can handle a friendship without being hurt!

Give him a call and simply wish him a happy birthday.

Tell him I said Happy Birthday too... hehehe

When you see him -- if on his bd you simply say, by the way Happy Birthday"

and if you see him after his birthday has passed and it's within a week, say "by the way, happy belated birthday"

and leave it at that.

NO! just leave it alone, he seems to not care about you, why give him the time of day, maybe it will make him wonder?

SINCE YOU ARE STILL FRIENDS, NOTHING WRONG WITH
TELL HIM HAPPY BIRTHDAY.

Why not? Shows you are not angry with him, but then again, he did break it off...
