You may outgrow this embarrassing yourself part. What you have described is alcoholism. You may reach a point in your life where you decide it isn't fun anymore (drinking and embarrassing yourself) until then, your not done and that is just how it is. Controlling yourself while intoxicated is pretty damn near impossible. I know that certain medications can help, such as antidepressants - however adding drugs can kill you.
So, I am not going to lecture you about drinking, but I will ask that you please be responsible and NEVER drive once you've started drinking. Could you seriously live with yourself if you killed someone? I know it won't happen to you, that is what everybody who has a DUI thinks. Take a cab or have someone else drive, please.

You're asking for help, and that's a good thing, but you say that your behaviour is caused by your drinking, but stop drinking is not an option. Think it over and give yourself a chance to decide. If you decide you can't handle it go to a meeting and talk with others that have been in the same place. Don't forget that it's always your choice.

hey miss sociable ... the thing is .. if you like to drink ... try to substitute some non alcoholic beverages inbetween a few of those .. more .. tipsifying drinks ...
for instance .. i love a drink called a candy apple ... its vodka seven and llime juice with a little gernidine .... between drinks i will order a sevenup and lime juice with the grenidine ... pretty close to the same drink without the kick and keeps me having fun without anyone at all knowing i have eliminated some of my alcohol intake ...
if you drink say a couple of sodas or something inbetween drinks .. it will keep up the atmosphere .. and you will probably not reallize you are doing it yourself ...
just a thought annnywayyy...good luck ...

I have been going to AA lately, and since you say once you start, you can't stop, it seems that you are in the grip of a disease called alcoholism. You might go to an AA meeting and ask people there about your drinking, if it is normal, etc. They are very nice people and will be able to give you some answers.

Have a friend give you a high sign or a code word that means, "shut up, you are making a fool of yourself." Even if you have had too much to drink, you will recognize the word or sign and you can stop and think/or just stop and listen (and look intelligent)

cut down on your drinking make sure you eat before you go out drink plenty of fluid (Water) before and during your drinking binge. Most of all if you can't stop drinking is this your choice or is it a social thing? Whatever it is the final choice is yours nobody forces drink down your neck do they. There are non-alcholic drinks out there that looks alcoholic. If you do have a personal problem seek help.

But seriously, you might want to reconsider that option. I get tired of drinkers calling me on the phone and having to listen to them. I used to do that myself. It's really annoying.
I'm taking a break from drinking, I was liking it too much. Will I ever drink again, maybe but I did get tired of embarassing myself.

You can take non alcholic beer if you can't quit drinking.But at some stage if you really feel like qiutting come to india .This is a great place of tranquillity that will make you stop drinking as if by impulse.

What you need to do is to walk of a pier to see if you can swim - if you can - then you'll be doing so much exericse you won't have time to drink anything except seawater - don't advise that - if you can't problem solved !
