I think most ppl will agree it's something that has to be agreed upon by the couple dating, but how is this seen from aside?

MysteriousStranger, I think I already know that is the best answer right there. But, I'm not sure if everyone sees it that way... And that's well problematic... ;(

I think there's a point in people's lives where they don't really ask "do you want to be my boyfriend/girlfriend" anymore. I refer to my boyfriend as my boyfriend but there was never really a time when he asked me or I asked him...I guess there's a certain time where you just know that it's meant to go futher but there's no line or something that you have to cross to be official. I think after three dates, I'd probably just assume they were casually dating. Three dates really isn't that much.

Well, there is a point when you have to sit down and decide if you two are a couple, or not... someone has to bring up the subject, one of the two..... and pour clean water into the glass... just dating and dating... that is not sufficient to know what is going on in the mind of the other person.

But yeah, I dislike big soul talkings, as well..... they make me run away, actually. I get totally frightened when it comes to the "let's get serious" talks... :)
I think a kiss could tell me better and faster where we stand than a big speech.

It depends on the closeness of the couple. Some people are a couple from the day they meet, other people date for years before they say the are "together". Go with what feels right, but if you are asking this then I am going ot assume that you are not ready for that title and you need to tell her

I think most women just assume that they are your girlfriend after 3 dates. You are right that it is something that should be agreed upon and stated by both sides, but women like to be in relationships. It's just the way we are! So if you haven't stated anything.... watch out!

u can never call a girl your gf unless she 1. agrees to it or 2. you talk about it and you decide you are exclusive.... otherwise it is just dating.... i have been dating a girl for 1 1/2 years and she is not my gf...we see other people and it is not a bf/gf relationship...so no, she is not your gf no matter if you have been on 100 dates (as i have)... it has to be mutually decided upon... this is not afghanistan or iraq!

No out with someone on 3 dates does NOT make them your girlfriend. You are absolutely right - what makes a couple officially a couple, is when they talk and mutually decide to not date other people.

Well I think that if you asked her out then you're not b/f and g/f yet. But after 3 dates you should ask her to be your g/f. I wouldn't necessarily think that we were b/f and g/f just after 3 dates, to me that just means we went out a few times!

I think it's too early to call a girl your girl friend after having only 3 dates.

I think three weeks, is really just the starting point, in a relationship. Usually that's the time you decide, if its' time to quit, or continue. If one continues after three weeks, I think it will go on longer, and you could be considered steadies.
