Yes. I think of an apple. The apple has three parts: The peel, the flesh and the core. The 1 true God has three persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.
All three parts of the apple are APPLE. The peel is Apple. It is not an Orange. It is not a Banana. The flesh is APPLE. It is not pear or plum. The core is APPLE. Not grapefruit or watermelon.
These three parts: Peel, Flesh, Core are not three apples, but just 1 apple.
The Father, Son and Holy Spirit are not three Gods, but just 1 God.
The three parts of the apple have different purposes. The peel protects. It keeps the apply healthy. The flesh of the apple is good to eat. The core of the apple contains the seeds from which apple trees grow. When just 1 apple seed is planted in the ground the result is MANY MANY APPLES.
Like the apple the three persons of the 1 true God have different purposes too. God the Father is our protector. He made us - He loves us and protects us, makes even bad things turn out for our good. He keeps things growing so we have food. You, me, all people, all things, even apples.
Sometimes we do things that God doesn't like. God said there must be a punishment for these things. That would make us very sad. It would hurt a lot for a very long, long time.
But God loves us so much he sent God the Son to take our punishment for us. His name is Jesus. He was a real man. He suffered. It hurt a lot. He died. Jesus was buried as an apple seed is buried in the ground. But he was really God and as an apple seed sprouts from the ground and makes new apples possible, Jesus rose from the dead and the result is beautiful, wonderful, happy new lives for us.
But before we can have this beautiful, wonderful happiness, there is something else we must have: Faith in Jesus.
When you plant an apple seed in the ground, you believe an apple tree will grow from it. That's faith in an apple seed. When you believe Jesus died for you and lives again to give you a beautiful, wonderful, happy new life, that's faith in Jesus.
Our hearts are like a piece of ground. The ground cannot plant itself with an apple seed. Someone must put the seed into the ground. We cannot put faith into our own hearts. God the Holy Spirit makes us believe in Jesus. He puts faith into our hearts and keeps it alive and growing as long as we want him to.
When an apple seed is planted in the ground, the rain feeds it and it begins to grow. When the Holy Spirit puts faith into the hearts, he feeds it with God's word, and Faith begins to grow. When the apple tree is grown up strong and healthy, it bears fruit: Apples. When faith is grown up strong and healthy, it bears fruit too: Patience, kindness, joy, humility, goodness, love, faithfulness, peace.
When you pick an apple from a tree, you know it is an apple. It looks like an apple. It has an apple peel, its flesh is apple, if you plant a seed from its core, an apple tree will grow. Though it has three parts, you know you do not have three apples. Just 1 apple.
If you have faith in the true God, you believe in God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. There are three persons, but there is only 1 true God.

How can you picture (mentally or otherwise) God the Father, Who has never been or never will be seen with human eyes - or God the Holy Spirit, who has been seen descending "in the form of a dove" and in "tongues as of fire", but is not a dove or a tongue of fire?
The point is, the only image of God that a Christian can have is our Lord and God and Saviour Jesus Christ - because He is the only One of the Holy Trinity to have become incarnate and to have appeared to mankind in a way that can be seen with the eyes.

I typically dont picture God.
If I ever do, I picture God as in the visions of God in the Bible (Revelation, Zechariah)...
---
Regarding the Trinity...
---
Here is a brief synopsis of the Trinity:
There is only ONE God. He manifests himself in three personas/persons/manifestations for the purposes of the redemption of, and relationship with, human beings.
Contrary to what some people say, there is nothing irrational or illogical about this concept (of the Trinity).
For an explanation (and defense) of the doctrine of the Trinity, see http://www.godsci.org/gs/sect/doc/trinity.html
Cordially,
John

Hello friend,
Without overstepping my bounds in thinking I can explain the Trinity to you, let me say this, you used a phrase that can be found in Matthew 28:19b. In this statement, when Jesus says "in the Name of"... He is saying "Name as implying authority".
When you think of God, take rest in knowing God is unity and whether you say Jesus or Father, or Holy Spirit, God hears your prayer and looks at your heart. He is not the author of confusion, and for your sake there is no competition in God, if that was your concern.
Blessings,
2 Tim 2:7

Only a blinded christian mind will tell you that it sees 3 pictures but those 3 pictures are one. God is one not three. He is not one in three or three in one. He is the One GOD; the Creator, the Initiator, the Designer. To Him belong the most beautiful names. Glorifying Him is everything in the heavens and the earth. He is the Almighty, Most Wise

it's a 3 in one deal....like I am a wife, mother and a daughter but I am one person. you have God the father, God the Son (fufilled in Jesus) , and God the Holy Spirit (which works in the world today). You will never fully understand the Trinity. God never meant us to. When we get to heaven all will be revealed.
