else around for miles, my kid is 19 months old and I am worried he will be lonely. We dont plan on selling it until he is ready to go to school.
Any ideas?
I dont want to drive everyday either, as gas is not cheap.
Will my kid be fine?

Starting a daycare is out of the question...this home is far away deep into the Alberta countryside.
My kid spends his days with me and doesnt seem to mind.

Since, you are not planning on having more children, maybe you should get some animals. A dog, a cat, some chickens, a horse;etc. That way your child isn't completely lonely. Introduce your child to literature. Reading is a wonderful gift to any child. Try to plan outings that are around other children. The park, a museum, play group;etc. Hopefully, you can do this more than once every two weeks. Maybe, there is a mommy support group. It will not only benefit you but also your child. It is always nice to talk about what concerns you have. Or, just talk. The GAS prices are affecting everyone. I know it is tough! Hopefully, when your not at the Mommie's group, you can talk to your new friends on the phone. You will not feel so isolated. (Remember, even someone in a large city can feel isolated! Your never alone!) I think, if you are creative and loving parent, you can make a wonderful home for your child.

i was going to say put him into day care.. its really good for a kid, but seems how you dont want to drive everyday i would suggest a "moomy and me" type of group where you can get all the mommy's and kids together, normally about once a week. Also if you or your husband works, check into if your work has a day care plan often they do. If neither of these ideas work, i would suggest finding the nearest park and taking the child once a week or so for what ever interaction you can figure out. at this age its crucial for them to get social interaction. They will do much better in school with other children and they wont get nearly as jealous once you decided to have another child, if you do..

He'll be fine..He'll probably have a difficult time at first when he starts school due to not being around other kids, and always being around you.

If you have to drive an hour for play dates, then you'll just have to do that. It may not sound like something you'll want to do but if you are that concerned about him being around other kids then, you do what you have to. Go out..meet other Moms like yourself, and set up play dates.

Your child will be just fine. Think of all the kids that grew up during the transition from first settlers to established cities. Your child will thrive .

I think of more concern would be the possibility of preditory animals who might wander onto the property. Congratulations on escaping suburbia.
