What volunteer work would you recommend to other people?

What experience have you had with community service that you think other people might enjoy? I love working with Rebuilding Together. (Check them out online (www.rebuildingtogether.org.) What do you like?

I like to donate, mainly to peace corps, because I'm not much of a people person, but I do believe it's important to help out when you can, it falls under treat people like you want to be treated. Keep up the good work. Namaste

Volunteering, has always been a part of my life.My first volunteer assignment was at the age of 10. I stuffed envelopes at The American Red Cross.

Crisis Hotline (former)
Literacy Tutor (former)
Animal Shelter (for dogs) (current)
Organized a Letters to Santa project at work (former)

I have a friend that vollunteers at a humane society on the weekends, and she also vollunteers at a nursing home, she just goes around and talks to the old folks and it really cheers them up, most of them don't have any family and it really help lift them up. You could mix it up a little. Go to the nursing home and check with the humane society and you might be able to bring in kittens and puppies for the old folks, and really brighten their day.

My life was touched by domestic violence. So now whenever I can I help out with the agency that gave me so much. It is called the SAFE Center. Spousal/Sexual Abuse Family Emergency Center. It is the most amazing program and I can tell you litterally that this organization saved my life! Domestic Violence isn't something that only one person goes through.

I like working with Animals--the SPCA always needs help as do organizations who breed working dogs for the disabled.
