Human beings are created with the capacity - and the need - for relationship with their Creator. Without a connection with God, we aren't really alive. "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." It's like you're already dead, but knowing Jesus is life-giving, like being born a second time. Eternal life begins now: it is the kind of life Jesus lived as he walked on earth, demonstrating the love of God through teaching, healing and works of compassion. Jesus said, "Anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these."

Many responders have rightly said that it is necessary because He is our Creator - and that is true. But He is more than just our Creator, making us and then leaving us on our own to fend for ourselves. He is the Sustainer of our lives - both in this world and in the eternal life after this world. In fact, He is our life itself. So if we don't know Him, we can't know real life and will never experience real existence, real joy, real love, etc.

God is the energy and spirit of truth and love. It is necessary to know him, because our ultimate goal is to become like him. To become pure, good, compassionate, caring, selfless, to sacrifice ourselves for others. This is the meaning of life. Many go lifetimes without knowing it. Many find out at the end of their lives. But it is not too late for you.

If we have the capacity to know God and we dont use it, then what are you putting into your brain? Whatever it is, it is a poor substitute.
