Obviously that's a very difficult question. However, in the book of Revelation, Jesus is described as the Lamb that was slain from the foundation of the world. The reality of sin and death was not a surprise to God. At creation, God knew humanity would need a Savior and provided his son to be the Savior of the entire world including those who were born before Jesus was sent into the world.

I realize that you said that you don't believe, but I would still recommend that you read the book of Ephesians in the New Testament for more detail in regard to your question.

I understand where you are coming from BRAVO!!! :)

The people before Jesus or before Christianity the Old Religion/Pagans worshiped many Gods (polytheism), especially the Egyptian and Celtic ones. These ancients did not believe in hell because their was no so called hell. Hell and Satan was created by Christians (monotheism), it was the bad one to them.

These Pagans died for many rights some bad some good just like the modern day Christians. We have good and bad of both religions, now you hear of the Catholic priest who rapes young men or used women, and you have also heard of the Pagan who sacrificed a goat or person, just examples! no need for anyone to get mad.

These days we do have modern day Pagans who are good and help others in need such as the Christians do too.

If a Christan talks down to Pagans he is not a good Christian and Vice versa. A good person comes from w/in your heart not what religion you are.

So as to your question there is no right or wrong answer, We as Americans have different opinions and please do not be swayed by one or the other but use your best judgment.

Don't you just hate those cut-and-paste jobs, with all the CAPS? A sure sign someone has no brain of their own.

To answer your question, Christians believed that Jesus died for our sins, to wipe the slate clean with God [he also died for other reasons, but let's not complicate things].

Other people died for all sorts of reasons, but mostly they died for the same reasons people after Jesus did. In other words, the other people's deaths had nothing to do with the reason Jesus came to Earth.

Does that help?

If you don't believe then why do you want to know? All people that died before Jesus died, are all in Hell (GRAVE) with the hope that they are in God's memory and will be resurrected when Jesus comes back.

When Christ died on the Cross, before His resurrection on the third day, He descended into Hades (the place where the souls of the departed all went before Christ's resurrection) and they all had a chance to encounter Him there. So they were not automatically sent to hell. They all had the chance to accept Him as the Saviour or not - just like the people who were still alive on earth when He came and just like all of us today.

The believer who died before Jesus died on the cross were in Hell, not being burned in fire or anything like that, just not in heaven. After Jesus died on the cross, he descended to Hell and got them and took them to Heaven. That's what he was doing before he appeared again to his disciples.

Great theological question. Whne you think about it, if you believe in Christianity, then all those who died before it came to existence were doomed. Sort of a harsh way to look at things but that's the way Christians probably think.

Pretty wild. I give you an A+++ for coming up with this one.

The proper payment for sin was sacrifice. Only blood could pay for the penalty of sin. Prior to Jesus people were to sacrifice animals for the repentence of sin. Once Jesus came to the earth He became the sacrifice for sins. At that point we were no longer required to sacrifice animals since Jesus took their place....that is the short answer.

They were in fact, not sent to hell. If you read the Bible you will see that many individuals such as Moses and King David were praised by God. Both of these men lived and died before Christ came in human form. These men trusted in God for their salvation. The pre-Jesus group of people who put their faith in God still went to heaven.
