This guy has flirted with me before. But he can never talk with me on a personal level. I've tried before and he acts really strange. Is it because he thinks I like him and this is making it seem like he likes me if he converses. But if that's the case why flirt at all? He talks to these ladies. Has even rubbed their backs. I'm not saying I'm any prize. But these ladies are overweight and much older then he is. Does he just not want to give me the wrong impression. Why does he flirt and then act so distant?

He is probably flirting with the older and overweight, ladies, knowing it won't go beyond flirting.
With you that possiblility, isn't there, you and he could go further. This may shake him up, and isn't what he wants.
Only he knows what he wants, and as he isn't conversing with you, on a regular basis, it seems he doesn't wish it to any further.
That's just my take on things, hope it helps.

Maybe he isn't ready for that type of relationship. Try to talk again to see where it go. If not then maybe try other avenues.
