The best is still English since it is the international language. It is widely understood. It would be nice if your child learns a little of Spanish, too. Dora the Explorer is a big help. I know because my kids watch it.

You should teach the child some spanish because there are alot of hispanics and they can communicate. Also good jobs comes from learning any language especially spanish.

I am a strong advocate for second (and third) languages for children. Starting younger is better. We are raising my biracial child to be trilingual (English, Persian, and Korean). She is two and is it working beautifully. My husband and in-laws speak Persian exclusively to her. My parents speak Korean to her, and I speak English to her. I have bought as many bilingual books as possible and will continue to expose her to all three languages and cultures. It is vital for the next generation to be able to communicate with as many people as possible.

Sure, why not? Many children grow up in 2 language families. Children pick up languages easily.

If you speak English to him at home as often as you speak your first language, he will pick it up easily. Also get children's books in English to read together, that he will later learn to read on his own.
