Do you have a specific error? I can answer this for you if so. Many times it will be a circular reference, and often the data type will not be correct, i.e. you'll have a cell formatted as text instead of number or date so the formula can not reference the particular data type in the cell you include in the formula.

One of the biggest is mismatched parentheses. There has to be a closing one for each opening one. Another is not enough arguments for the functions you want to right. And a third is simply misspelling of a property.
