I read in a recent Time magazine that some New England farmers use their maple syrup to make vodka. Here in NZ, real maple syrup is far more expensive than vodka. You can make vodka from cheap raw materials like whey from cheese factories and potatoes. So why use maple syrup?

you can make awesome vodka from the end of the barrel maple syrup(which is quite often used for cooking)makes the best beans ever also terriyaki beef. there are different grades of amber syrup and it lasts forever it is not harsh as some vodkas can be:)

it a lot cheaper there.. vodka can be made from just about anything you can ferment diff places use what ever is cheapest in that area be it potatoes, grains, plan suger, or maple syrup
