I was named Tammy after a country music singer and have always hated it. Recently I have been thinking of changing it to something I like, not a complete and total departure from Tammy but a name that Tammy could be a nickname for. Like Tamsin or Tamara. I'm open to suggestions. Please don't be rude, I really am serious.

just a little footnote, I am an adult so parental input is not needed. As for the name being a gift from my mother, I doubt it. I'm not entirely sure she wasn't on any mind altering substances at the time. A better "gift" would have been not comitting suicide with only myself 6 years old at the time, along with my 3 year old and 6 month old brothers in the house. You'll forgive me if I don't feel terribly sentimental over the name . I respect your views on the subject even if I don't agree . I thank everyone for taking the time to answer.

Your name is your identity. It greets the world for you and tells everyone something about you. It should be something that you think fits you. I say change it and be proud. :)

absolutely not too flaky. i changed my name to something LESS complicated and it's been a good change for me. if tammy is too plain to fit your personality then by all means change it! just be used to some people always calling you by your original name even if you ask them to go with the new one.
As far as Tamsin or Tamara, i am a big fan of being UNIQUE without being unpronouncable (which my previous name was) so i would go with Tamara. it's fun and pretty and feminine but not over the top or high-maintenance sounding.
u only live once, might as well make life come to you rather than taking absolutely everything the way it came to you! Viva!

I don't think it would be flaky. Are you old enough that your parents won't be a factor?
I have a friend named Tamara. People never know whether it rhymes with camera or if it sound like tomorrow. It's a pretty name though.
I, personally LOVE Tamsin! (Go with that!)

There is nothing flaky about changing your name. I think it shows that you are thinking outside of the box. I wouldn't like being named after a country music singer myself. Go for it, girl!

A name is just a label, it means nothing, it gives nothing. So why worry, just enjoy the name you have been given by your mother. Your mother who has carried you for nine month, gave birth to you and has given you name with her mind of total love for you. Honour it.

nicely, its very large truly. the olny reason curiously jumbled is beacause the font in this internet site's a's have the little "curl" on the appropriate yet while it became written with the "a" with out "curl on the appropriate" it may look greater handy to declare. nick names are endless for this call aswell witch is solid for while the female is older andhas lots of friends and chat. one ingredient i could substitute became the middle call, anne is fairly complication-unfastened and additionally in case you end a acceptance with a vowel and initiate off the subsequent be conscious with a vowel it wont roll as nicely. possibly attempt Kasasha marie(additionally complication-unfastened yet large) or Kasasha jody, or a acceptance with 2 syllables this is going to sound large. solid success!

Not trying to make you feel bad but.. Your name is a gift your parents gave you. Some gifts are better then others however it's yours, they gave it to you. That might mean a lot to you one day, when they are not there.
