Do you own makeup. Whenever you have makeup done, they always cake it on and you look "made up". That's not how you want to look. I did my own make up and hair. i wanted to look like myself in the pictures. I was in a friend's wedding and when Igot the pictures back, the bride (who had everything done) did not llook AT ALL like herself. She regretted this later.

Professional make up and hair artists are well worth the money as long as you have a trial run. Have a girlfriend of yours take a few pictures afterwards. First 1 hr after. Then 3 hrs and then 5 hrs
That is the best way to make sure that it will last through your day the way that you want it. Also if you are going to do your own I would fallow the same picture routine. You will be able to see how your make up wears through the time and know when you will need to reapply.
Congrats on your upcoming wedding.

Don't call someone who specializes in "wedding day makeup" See if you can go to your local mall and go to the department store. Tell them you are getting married and would like a trial makeover to possibly book them on the day of the wedding. Most of them are more than happy to give you a free makeover and even more happy to sell you a product you love. If you like the look book them the day of your wedding, but you will have to travel to them unless you make arrangements for them to come to you. Its usually about 35 dollars.
If go the DIY route keep in mind that you will not want to use a foundation or any makeup with an SPF. SPF reflects light and is responsible for the ghostly shining appearance in pictures. Also any makeup you do will have to be slightly heavier to show up on film. ALSO WATER PROOF WATER PROOF WATER PROOF. Mascara stains suck. And call a local salon like Toni and Guy and see what they charge. Call any local salon because most Wedding Specialist will charge a fortune because they can and that is what they do. Good luck, but try the makeup counter at the local department store first.
DONT go cheap on the hair, makeup can be retouched but bad hair will show up on film forever. Unless you have a really talented friend, pay for a professional. Once again call a normal salon, most places here charge 40 bucks just for the updo styling. That is if you go to them. Keep in mind that you will have to pay dramatically for onsite service so keep your schedule and times in mind too.

I did my own hair and makeup. I'm good at both, although I don't recommend trying to do an updo yourself, you'll need a professional. I grew up in the 80s and knew how to do makeup by 8th grade. I would never consider highing a makeup artist for any reason. You might need a hair stylist, depending on what kind of style you want. good luck.

I paid $50 for my hair and they did my makeup and nails for free because I was a regular at that salon and spa for getting my hair cut and coloured. Is there somewhere around you that does hair and makeup at the same place that may give you a deal if you get both done there? If not then I would get a friend or someone to help you and just do it yourself. If I didn't get mine done free then I would have had my mom do it becuase to be honest, it starts to smudge and wear off during the reception anyways. I was touching mine up everytime i went to the bathroom. I would just do your own. Its not worth $55.

I wouldn't skimp on the hair stylist but i think you can get around a professional make up artist. I would visit the makeup counters at the mall. They can give you great advices for doing your own makeup. For fifty bucks you can buy all your own new makeup, and you'll plenty extra for the honeymoon.
While you are looking at bridal magazines for dresses, flower ideas, you can also cut out pictures of makeup.
Good luck, and congrats!

I did it myself. Just go to the makeup counters at the department store, they'll let you play with their makeup for free before you buy, they'll probably even be willing to help you try a look out, especially if you tell them it's for your wedding. I did my own hair too, but I've always had short hair, so I just curled it a little more than usual.

I did it all myself. I started a month or so before the wedding to decide what I liked. My husband was excited because he said I looked natural and he was afraid that someone else might make me up too much. My advice... save that money and spend it on something more exciting!

geesh. I did it all myself. I used a few more layers than usual. And my hair. I got some extra hold air spray that kept the hair in place.
