Whatever name you ultimately choose, it is good to stay with a short, one or two-syllable name that does not rhyme with any commands you may choose to teach. For example, naming the puppy Clown, will make it difficult to teach "down." Also keep in mind that the name you will use to call the dog should not embarrass you. I think of the little girl who named her poodle Madame Foo Foo, and the father who went around the neighborhood looking for the lost pup calling "Here, Madam Foo Foo" (grin). Have fun with your new dog!

Any time I get a new pet. I don't name him right away. I wait for a few days or even a few weeks. As he developes his personality, a name that fits perfectly will pop right into place. For instance, my 3 1/2 lb Miniature pinscher who thinks he is 10 feet tall and bullet proof is named " Bull" I had a little dog once who whenever he had an accident would just disappear. His name was Magic!

I have a small boy dog, too. In fact, he is a wiener dog (dachshund) and I love him very much. When I got him as a puppy, I knew I wanted to name him just a regular PEOPLE name like Tim, Bob, Dave, or whatever. After a lot of thought, he became JEFFERSON, but I call him JEFF for short. IT totally fits him...a cool, California dude named Jeff.

I dunno... I suck male-dog @ names...
But let me tell you THIS: Sometimes, you really don't know what your pet's name is gonna be, until you see them. I have a puppy-
a lil' Chihuahua, and I really didn't know what to name her, until I got her. (She's Mini- since she was so small) Maybe you'll find a name when you get your pup.
PS. DO NOT EVER name a pet after your BF... I don't know why I said that, but just don't!!!
