Because religion gives us humans a reason for existing and can be used to explain the things we don't understand. I've talked to scholars who agree that religion has been used as a means to control people throughout history. You can look at the churches and all that they teach and contradictions abound everywhere. Ex. How do you explain...Thou shall not kill, but its OK to kill others if the military is involved, or if someone gets the death penalty?!?!? If we are all gods children then why am I looked upon differently because of the color of my skin??? Why is everything labeled: black, white, asian, indian, mexican, etc. We will become an advanced society when we can eliminate the racism and the hypocritical things that make us human, but make us so separate from each other......
