Because humans have interfered with dog breeds for centuries. Dogs that developed thick coats for working in snow live in Miami. Dogs with thin coats suited for desert life live in Maine. And far too many dogs were bred at the whimsy of people who thought it would be cute if the dog ceased looking like a dog and looked more like a baby.

So what situations is it important for dogs to wear clothes? Some dogs need warmth in winter. Other dogs need protection from the sun in summer. And some dogs need visors to keep the sun out of their eyes year round.

It isn't really important to every dog owner but some dogs are so cute dressed up. I have one dog that wants to wear clothes and one that doesn't. I have a male and female and believe it or not it is my male that wants to be dressed up. He even picks out his own clothes. I am nice to him though, he never wears anything girly.

hummmmmm

There is no importance to it really unless they have some sort of condition, or is a naked breed in exstreme climate areas.

Most dogs wear clothes because the owner WANTS them to look all cute etc.

Some people put coats or sweaters on their dogs to keep them warm. I only put boots on my dog to protect her feet from the snow and salt.
