A motorcycle has many advantages over a moped. It has better tires, suspension, handling, and brakes. These alone make it safer. More power doesn't sound like a safety feature, but you CAN avoid a situation with the throttle. Sometimes you can give it some gas to get away from a tailgater, or a car looking hesitantly to pull out from a driveway/parking spot etc, or just getting clear of a pack of cars. Ultimately tho, having a motorcycle that can keep up with traffic vs a moped where you find yourself being overtaken constantly by traffic is the number 1 reason a motorcycle is safer.

You can go faster on a motorcycle and have a more serious accident, but you DON'T have to ride around like you're racing either.

A moped is lighter, but a lightweight motorcyle still has all the benefit of a bigger bike vs moped. The heavier it is tho the less it's affected by crosswind.

well lets put it this way, mopeds should stay on a bike path because they are not capable of keeping up with the speed of traffic and they are usually driven by morans... motorcycles have the power and the safety equipment to be safely driven on the roadways

The wheels on a moped are smaller (i.e. harder to steer) Bikes are louder and more noticeable, and mopeds are annoying and made of more plastic. Most mopeds/scooters can go over 25 mph. A friend of mine died when he hit his head on the curb after laying over his 900cc sportbike going 15mph around a residential corner(no helmet) There are too many parameters to consider.

If a vehicle is ignoring you and turns into your lane, and you get smoked in the face and die, or have serious injuries, it won't matter if you are riding a GSX R or a mo-ped.

Forget safety, you are on two wheels anyway, so why not enjoy the ride and get some speed out of it? Just distrust every other vehicle on the road.

Good Luck!

Assuming you are going the same speed, they are probably equal. I also think mopeds aren;t able to tip front side up if you accelerate too fast.
