I am going on a train for 15 hours with my three year old. Any advice on how to keep it a calm ride? Lol

We took a 4,000 miles car trip last year with our three-year old. The best thing we ever purchased was a DVD player for the car (which I'm sure would also work on a train). We recorded a bunch of his favorite TV shows from PBS, Noggin and Nick Jr., and then transferred them to DVD's. He had hours of entertainment, and we had peace and quiet. The DVD player was worth every penny!

Keep Your Child Entertained And Not Too Messy. The Last Thing You need On A Long Trip Is To Have A Huge Mess Everywhere.Portable DVD Players Would Work Great And Some Coloring Books.

Let your child carry a backpack with his/her own things. Or a metal lunchbox that can hold a few treasures.

I travel alone with my two little girls (now 3 and 1) a lot. We have long layovers and car rides quite often, and the girls always surprise me: they're much better travelers than I give them credit for when planning.

Anyway, take a few good stories (preferably thin and paperback), or a good chapter book if that's something you normally do with your child. A ziploc bag of crayons and a sketchbook can keep a kid busy for ages, especially when you draw together. Stickers are always a hit. A few different kinds of snacks. My daughter has a small doll that travels with us everywhere, and we imagine "Tiny" in all kinds of situations. Magnetic games are good. We take apart a "memory" game, and travel with a smaller set of the cards. A portable DVD player can really help, if you can afford one and it's not too much of a pain to carry. But people watching is the great part. That, and inventing stories to tell each other. You can count hats, or look for as many babies as you can find, or point out all the people wearing red. On a train, it's fun to walk between cars, visit the potty, and look out the window.

And, of course, if your child has a lovey, or still uses a pacifyer occasionally, keep that stuff handy. It's easy to sleep on a train, and comfort objects can make all the difference.

I have two 3 year olds, two 2 year olds and a 9 month old and we recently went on a trip that was 8 hours. When they got bored/antsy we gave them coloring books, toys, just things that are fun. Buy your child a new toy, they love new things.

Have a bag full of various snacks & toys to pull out one at a time. That's what I did when I took my 2-year-old on a 7-hour car trip & it worked well. Good luck! :)

pack a bag full of stuff your child likes.....crayons that color wonder stuff is the best! Snack are a must, picture books and favorite toys are good things to take along, As long as the child feels safe and secure then it should go smoothly.

Books and lots of books. If you had a portable DVD player it would help as well. They are life savers for the traveling we do.
Good luck and be careful!
