Depends on who you ask. Even different Vets will argue over this question.
Certain foods not to ever feed are:Raisins, grapes, onions, chocolate and of course small bones.
We feed our dogs dry and wet food. At night they usually share in what we have and it doesn't hurt them. They love green beans, bread and butter. They like peanut butter on toast, donuts, like I said, anything we eat, we share with them. Once in awhile I even make them a sandwich. They love fruit and veggies.
It gives them a well rounded diet. They are healthy and not over weight. They are never sick.........They are just happy dogs!!
One of them will not eat a chip unless it has dip on it......

I give my dog some table scraps but not many or often. He may get a bite here and there. Most people will say no but I think of my dog more as a human than a dog. He is my child with 4 legs. :)

They are NOT bad for your dog. Table food scraps may have more calories or salt then the dog food they have been conditioned to but certainly not bad for them if offered on occasion.
People fear giving their dogs chicken bones is a larger worry then scraps in general.
Vets say that it may make them more finicky and refuse their regular food.

I was told by a vet that a dog should never eat table scraps because it could make them sick or get fat. I know several people that feed their dog table scraps and their dogs are fat and are always begging for more food.

Yes, apart from being unhealthy for the dog, they also learn to expect it and beg for it if you refuse to give them some. If you dont want some major behavioural problems, and a fat dog, I would suggest not giving them table scraps.

depends on the scraps. little bits of steak fat r okay evry now and then, but if u do it 2 often, u will hav a dog at the table CONSTANTLY begging for food, so giv the food away from the table!! NO SMALL CHICKEN BONES, which can be easily swallowed and cause poochie 2 choke!!!

Yes and yes and yes!
I used to work at a vet clinic and you would not believe how many dogs we got in because they had bones from chicken and pork chops splinter and get stuck in there throats and stomachs. We had a dog who ate a chocolate bar and went into cardiac arrest and almost died. We barely saved him.
Not only that, most people food isn't very healthy even for us. The fat and salt content is so high in most processed foods and fast foods. That is not a good thing for your dog. They don't need extra fat and they sure as heck don't need salt.
Also, dogs can be like people and develop allergies to food. This can also kill them.
My suggestion would be stick with dog food. Preferably something like Science Diet or Iams. Its ok to give them treats like Milk Bones or something like that.

todays table scraps are even bad for people. you should only give the dogs meat. no skin no bone . no potatoes no people pre-fab boxed foods, no sweets. stick to a high quality kibble. rice is ok plain. not instead of the kibble but with it. dairy is BAD dogs get pancreatitus from cheese and milk.

If you start giving your dog table scraps...you start bad habits. Begging...scrounging around the table....etc.
Some table food is in fact poisonous to dogs (e.g., Chocolate) Better you give your dog only dog food.

yes - since the definition of table scraps means something you yourself wouldnt eat (fat, rotten, etc)
leftovers are ok to feed but only if done as part of a regualar dog food diet and do not contain onions or other foods dogs should not have
never allow begging - if you are going to feed people food do it when you give them their food but in a seperate bowl

I use to work in vet office. They say it depend on foods. They say occassionally plain chicken breats without skin, rice, lamb meat, some veggies and fruit are alright.
I use to feed my dog banana as a treat. Now my mom have one black lab that would eat any veggie lol.
