Maybe people you meet are the small portion of their people who are NORMAL in their abnormal society. I agree they don't eat dogs and cats...they do eat whales, which are endangered species!!!

Just like not every American male abuses his wife, is fat, is a pedophile, or likes grape jelly, it's not all the Japanese that eat cat or have the sick mind of a Bonsai Kitten owner. ITS NOT ALL THE JAPANESE.

My dad's in the military and we were in Japan for three years, and not once did I go into a Japanese restaurant and see 'Cat', 'Neko', 'Kitten' or any other every-day domesticated animal on the menu, so please do not set your predjudices on 'Japanese eat cat; must kill all Japanese for animal cruelty' mode.

I am not saying the 'Bonsai Kitten' thing is right, on the contrary I came upon the site a few years ago when it was apparently working out of New York at the time. Should I despise all New Yorkers for having a few people that work with 'Bonsai Kitten'? Didn't think so. Anyway I ended up in tears, watching over my kitty fearfully, glad he was safely in my home and not letting him out of my sight for days.

The *makers* of the site and anyone that undergoes the process of 'making' a Bonsai Kitten are sick and have twisted minds. Please do not become racist against an ethnicity simply because a few of their culture/race are sick and wrong. That is called 'ignorance' and I assure you, in the long run ignorance isn't bliss.

This is all untrue...they have already checked into it. It is considered animal cruelty and they would not be able to do without going to jail, paying a fine, etc...
It is just to grab the attention of others. The problem is that there are people out there that hate cats and would love trying to do this for fun. So it encourages abuse and should be shut down.
PETA and others did shut it down but they just came back and in full force. It makes me sick.
What goes around comes around. They will get it in the end.

What is really too bad is that this site brings out some of the worst racist prejudices in people as they repeat all the bad things Japanese people and society supposedly do.

And of course, it's a fake site; so the Japanese, even a few individual Japanese don't do this.

In a Chinese food store I saw that on display they had a poor dead duck with criss-cross-nails driven through the poor thing's face. I left and never went back into that store. It's a big world filled with all kinds of people, and I don't necessarily want anything to do with all of them.

Its fake. The Japanese people love cats and wouldn't do that. As for the sex industry there yes it exists in full force and caters to all needs. That website is probably powered by some teenage guy from queens and his girlfriend loves her kitten more than she loves him.

This is a fake site. Notice you cant actualy order anything through it? The phone # is fake too. These have been around forever, they have been investiaged by many agencies and proven time and time again to be false sites.

Its basicly some sick joke made to jerk people's chains.

I cannot believe them

Look at this, it was written under the "Method" Section.

"At only a few weeks of age, a kitten's bones have not yet hardened and become osseous. They are extremely soft and springy. In fact, if you take a week-old kitten and throw it to the floor, it will actually bounce! We do not recommend that you try this at home."

At this point I thought "At least they have a small bit of decency.", until I read the next part.

"The kitten may bounce under the furniture and be difficult to retrieve, as well as covered in unsightly household dust. "

At this point, I almost broke my mouse.

OMG!
i KNOW!
Its so cruel and horrible.
They call it a tradition. An "art form".
Well. I'd like to shove them in a glass and seal them up and deform them, and see how they like it.
It should be illegal.
The poor kittens don't have a say.
Its not just japan. Japanese aren't bad people. Just some of them are twisted.
I can't stand this.

The Japanese see the cat as a food animal. To them it's not that big of a deal. If they made a bonsai chicken would you be as upset? Probably not.

however, i do agree with you. It's sick and they should be bombed again to be taught a lesson.

That was enlightening. Follow everyone's citations. Urban legends has a lot of information on it.
Just the thought that anyone would be this "creative" is horrifying.
