Instead of shelling out all this money to stop people from coming here, why not go to the source. After all they are not "our" people so why should we have to pay to control it. What the U.S. should do is start holding the country the people are coming from accountible. Countries like Mexico could be crippled without our economy buying there goods so I suggest imposing embargos and stop trade with these countries until they get THEIR problem under control. What has Mexico done to stop this? Have they done ANYTHING? The only problem with this is making sure they solve the problem humanely, otherwise it would create a whole new set of problems. Does anyone agree with this? I am open to criticism as well.

After the May 1st Boycott, I seriously considered never again buying anything that would benefit Mexico or ever returning to Mexico to grace it with my tourist dollars. I'm still thinking about it, but I think a better solution would be the OPPOSITE of what you suggest. Rather than buying fewer Mexican goods, we should buy more. But only from MEXICO itself.

We should boycott the Mexican-oriented businesses HERE IN THE USA, to encourage the Mexicans to return to their own countries. If business is booming in Mexico and no one is buying from them in the United States, Mexicans will be more willing to go back.

Example: Buy avocados that have been exported to the USA from Mexico. Do not buy guacamole from the Mexican guy at the taco shop in the USA.

It will be very difficult to get the Mexican government to cooperate since they not only encourage illegals to come here, they hand out pamphlets with tips on how to do so safely. I have nothing against the immigrants themselves. In fact, we are getting the cream of the crop so to speak when they come here. They're the ones with enough ambition to get up and try to do something about thier situation.

The reason the Mexican government encourages migration is because in this way, they get rid of the ambitious people in thier society who would otherwise do something about thier corrupt and worthless government. These folks are a threat to Vicente Fox and his criminal buddies. So no, putting pressure on the Mexican government will not work. They will just dig in thier heels and we will look like bullies.

An embargo with Mexico would cripple the US firms that produce products there. A more philosophical question would be does Mexico have a responsibility to secure our border? I don't think I'd be comfortable with that.

Interesting idea. It would backfire in the short term and I have no idea how it would play itself out in the long term.

The problem with the ideas of embargoes is that they have NEVER worked. We have had an embargo on Cuba for dang near 50 years and has had no effect on the removal of Castro.

Enforce and/or Obey the Law of other Nation, That's all, That is the solution. Of couse it's not working, because the Mexican government wants the US dollar sent back to help their economy.

You do realize that United State's corporations operate several manufacturing plants in Mexico because of the low cost labor?
No I guess you don't.

The mexican government is aiding and abetting the illegals to come here. They don't want to do anything to stop illegal immigration to this country, because the illegals puts billions of our dollars in the mexican economy. But it's high time we put a damn stop to this bullshit!
