I know carp aren't good eating ( personally I like haddock) a spot I go to fish has carp sometime and I never caught one so that's why I want to know what some good bait is.

I have fished for years and caught many fish from rock bass to trout. I dont eat the fish I just like to catch em but I never caught a carp and i want to.

Carp will eat about anything you bait on a line Even dead things &
Chicken guts, chunks of liver, worms and etc. Carps lay on the bottom of the lake or rivers. They are called scavengers. I heard alot of people eat them and they are full of bones and whatever but if thats what the like its to their choosing and not mine...

Chicago river is LOADED with Carp... though they say you shouldn't eat them because there are still so much toxin in the sediment...
Anyhoo - you asked about bait for carp. If I recall, there was an elderly man who always fished for the carp and I think he said there were 2 things you needed - a lure low enough to get a carps attention and good food that sticks out from the mud they eat every day.

Why the hell would you want to catch a carp? Those are some nasty tasting fish. Fun to fight, I guess, but just gross to eat.

i love fishing, try a bunch of maggots down the edge or a piece of sweetcorn. one of the best and most exciting ways is a piece of bread crust free lined on the surface, beware tho as there libel to pull your arms off when they take it !!!!!!!!! had loads of carp to double figures using these techniques in matches + other ones but will tell you simple ones as your a beginner.

Just covering a hook with bread dough will catch you many. Some like nibs of cooked corn.
