is there anything that you are SORRY you did not study more (and cheat less on) in any particular subject? Me --- it would be history. I found it boring (but for ONE teacher in high school when we were going over the Hitler regime). Otherwise, knowing what I know now about the world and also how history really truly does repeat itself (even within families), I wish I would have not slept though it so much. I plan NOW to gain more knowledge. How about you?

Personally, I was a lazy HS student. Although, I loved college and went on to receive a Bachelor's, a Master's and worked partially on a Ph.D. I love learning for the sake of learning and I don't think it is something you can appreciate until you are older.
When you are a student, you are FORCED to learn whatever the instructor wants you to. As an adult, you can seek out knowledge in areas that interest you or feel that you need to know about for whatever reason. Learning is best accomplished by wanting to do it and it sounds like you are approaching that point in your life.
I hope you enjoy what it is that you seek!

I actually wanted to be a history teacher - until I realized there was no future in it. I'm sorry, bad joke. But as far as what they taught in High School history, it's probably better that you did not pay attention too much, if you are planning on learning history now. All 'formal education' books either change the facts, omit the facts, or downplay the facts. Check out anything NOT written with a federal grant down at Barnes and Noble and you might start getting closer to the actual and horrifying history of the world. Myself, I wish I had stayed serious with math. I let a girl get in the way. Sweet girl.

I'm 38 and I partied my high school years away. I went to class and didn't care. I cheated my way through school. I'm now going to college and just got through with a history class. Many times I found myself saying... I didn't realize it happened like that or this is interesting -to bad I didn't take life serious when I was in high school. The good thing about college is since I've been going back, I've taken a total of 18 classes and out of the 18 , I've made all A's except 1 B. I just wondered what would have happened if I put effort during my younger days. Oh well... at least I can never say that I got my second turn at bat and did my best.

As people get older, they become more inquisitive. Don't be sorry about not paying attention in school . It is perfectly normal to sleep through half of your classes. Information in school is not presented in an interesting way. (You can take it from me. I taught for many years. Teachers always complain about the way they are forced to present subjects.) . As an adult you have the capacity to study what you want the way you want. So many facts are thrown at kids all at one time in school, there is no way they could remember them all anyway. But I admit that I am sorry I didn't study more science. I'm intrigued by it now. Have fun with history. It is far more than facts and dates. Historical analysis is fascinating.

I wish I had taken more advanced Math courses. It never was hard for me I just got bored. I would have probably finished pre-med studies then. And also now I have a great interest in physics and it is harder since I am older. Many things I wish I had studied more. But hindsight is always 20/20.

My biggest regret was not following through with college. I went to college for engineering and goofed off the entire last semester I was there. I remember sitting down for my calculus final and - obviously - not having the slightest chance at passing. However, I felt I could have passed with flying colors if I had worked hard at that particular subject. Why do I choose that subject? C'mon, it's engineering calc! If I could have passed that class, I could have passed anything! But my 0.8 GPA meant I couldn't go back and I've regretted it ever since.
Education is the most important thing, kids!

I would have taken my math classes more seriously. There's so much that I don't know because I didn't want to put the effort into it that I should have. I had to teach myself the math that I didn't learn in school when I decided to go into nursing. It was so hard, but I made it. I think of what I could have learned had I paid attention when I was younger. I've learned that math can be kind of fun. It's like figuring out a puzzle.

I would try harder to learn math! I was terrible at math, and today I am going back to college to be a radiologist, and there is alot of physics involved.
Math is also what kept me out of the local University when I graduated from high school. I wanted to be a music major...but I couldn't keep up with the math in high school, and I didn't have enough math credits. I let it stop me from achieving my dream.

I regret not taking the Calculus AP exam. I was a little intimidated and then wound up taking Calc 1 & 2 in college and covering less stuff than I did in high school! At least that made for some easy classes for me adjusting to college. (I know, I know, calling calc easy clearly marks me as a science & math geek, oh well).
I wish I had been able to take more Latin, but right before I entered high school, my school dropped it, and then they picked it up for three years right after I left!

I wish that I had taken a different language - I took Latin, which didn't help me at all once I left high school. I wish I had taken Spanish or French or Italian (or even Sign Language) instead - I would be so much better off!
