Yea i sure do..sometimes i wonder why bother?? i don't ever seem to get ahead in anything.. but i feel there are people who have it alot worse than me and they keep going on..so why can't I?? I listen to alot of people and there problems..try to help in any way i can.. sometimes i want to say--"I got my own problems and i cannot deal with one more of yours" but ..of course i don't... i listen and offer my help & advice....I guess i have this shoulder that people can lean on..so you must also have that kind...Just remember that being a good person to others really does help you have some peace of mind... take some time for yourself also..stay strong... maybe treat yourself to a massage to get rid of some stress..they aren't that expensive

I've definitely been there.
A couple of things that might help. And if they don't... Well they didn't cost you anything.
As the above person said, "learn the art of saying 'NO!'"
Also remember that, "No." is a complete sentence. You don't owe anyone an explanation.
After a particularly bad year of people taking advantage of me and feeling totally fried I finally got it through my thick skull that I can help people better when I take care of myself.
Do you set aside any time each day to take care of you? Is it enough? Do you have any hobbies of favorite activities? How long has it been since you've do them? How much time do you spend in front of the TV? For most people the TV does not recharge their batteries, it just acts like a sedative and can make one more depressed.
How's your support circle? Do you have any friends that are peers (you're equal with) or are you always serving? Is there anyone in your life who serves you from time to time? When was that last time you sat down with a friend or two and enjoyed a latte and scone?
Anyway, I hope you get the idea. Answer these questions for yourself. It's none of my darn business. ;-)
Bright Blessings

Yes. I've bee working since I was 13 yrs old. Later my dad passed away, and I as the older brother went to work and put my bro' through dental school and my sis thru university. Maintained the whole household. They didn't work at all while going thru school and dental school, I paid for everything. I had to put my dreams to be a doctor on hold for many years.
Now that he is a big shot dentist he won't even come vistit me or work on my teeth (15 min's away) unless I get mad. Now that I have saved enough, went back to school to pursue my dream to become a doc, but in my 3rd pre-med year, I just suffered a stroke that left me half paralized.
So, I do undertand what you're saying. But, have to move on and do the best with what's in front of you, and see I'm still here.

yes i feel that way all the time. I always put my family and friends first. I basically live around their needs more than mine. But lately ive been realizing that you just have to shut everyone out every once in a while and revolve around your needs. Because you'll go crazy if ya dont. So just do some things for you and be good to yourself.

All the time. I'm constantly exhausted. I know exactly how you feel. It doesn't help that I have several health problems ( fibro-myalgia, arachnoiditis, hydrocephalus, migraines). I get so tired, I dream of crawling under the bed and sleeping for a few months. I wish I could hibernate like a bear. LOL

Yes, and I've had to force myself to do something for me when I get like this. Thankfully, my fiancee completely understands and can tell when I'm getting stretched thin, and he makes me stop doing dishes or whatever so I can relax. He'll buy me books or insist I take a bubble bath. It took me a long time to realize I have to take care of me before I can really take care of everyone else.

I think we all feel that way at times, you need to take some time for yourself, and to learn the words "no, I'm sorry, I can't help this time." Take care of yourself the way you do others.

Constantly. That's why cell phones can be shut off, instant messenger has an invisible setting, and I have a stash of Lindt chocolate.

Not anymore. Keep in mind that even though it's nice to help others, you need to make sure you are well taken of so that you are of great benefit to those that you help. Take good care.
