and they had to remove a spot on her chest. They didn't know if it was cancer but gave us some pills to try of a week and said if it didn't clear up they would have to remove it. So they did. Had to cut a 4 inch incision and can now barely walk. The vet sent it off for biopsy. But aren't they supposed to do that before they even take the dog into surgery? Thanks in advance for your opinion...

they cant do a biopsy if its on the dog..

thats why they removed it

I am going to answer your question with another question. WHY didn't you ask your Vet that question? How do we know a medical question like that? Maybe the Vet knew it had to come out regardless of what the biopsy shows. He had to be worried to do it that way.

If that were my Vet we certainly would have had a discussion before I left his office. Call him and ask.

i think they will usually remove the mass first because it's obviously something wrong; the only question is whether it's benign or malignant, and that is what sending it off for the biopsy will reveal.

Ahem...HOW can they get a speciman to send off WITHOUT SURGERY???? Obviously suspicious enough to NEED it.Think about it ,eh?
