Probably will sound confusing to some but Christians I am sure will understand. Do you get swayed by the negative and positive things that happen in your life or do you have the Peace in your life that never changes? I do and I try not to let the things of this world sadden me and delude me.I also try to see the good in everyone I meet.
Peace Be With You,
Debra

Jesus said, "Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful." (John 14:27)

Even though I am, as you know, an atheist, I understand exactly what you're talking about.

In poker we call this "variance." There will be good swings and bad swings, but as long as I keep true to myself, I can maintain "positive expected value."

This is not something for which faith is a prerequisite. A sense of self is enough.

Most definately! I am really beginning to know that keeping the peace that God has put upon me is way better than trying to solve all the negativity and getting more upset with it. I just try to have peace with all of it and know that there is a plan and a way and not always it is what I expect it to be, but it all fits together perfectly!

It's difficult sometimes to resist responding to incidences in my life... be they good or not.. how I label positive and negative may not necessarily be so in DAD's eyes...however I can be in chaos... and have peace... I can be in a wildly great time and have peace .... I can be at a loss and have peace ... I dont mind feeling the things I go through - when it comes to responses, decisions and direction I take that peace that surpasses all understanding and I make sure I don't neglect it's presence...

Blessings ...

I get sad all the time because I'm constatly witnessing violence, hunger, death around the world and near me.
I get sad when I sin. After all, the Bible says Blessed be those who mourn, that is, who are not content with their sinful lives.
However, I understand that all this is a result of evil, and nothing bad is the will of God. That's what brings me hope.
I know that God can and does put peace in my heart whenever I ask Him. And the simply fact that I know He can hear me is already comforting.

I do have the peace that passes understanding. I have the peace of knowing I live my life everyday in peace with my fellow man and not fear the future or death. Don't need God to do or have that.

I do for the most part. I'm not always there, but for the most part I am generally very steady and calm in my emotions, even in the face of adversity. It takes a lot to knock me off balance.
