I am honored to answer your plea. How could people not respect the brave men and women fighting for us? The troops have to be supported as they fight in the name of our homes and our livelyhood. They sacrifice for America and people should be ashamed to denounce our brave soldiers. Keep it up my good soldier. Never forget there are people who honor you and our country everyday!

Back in the 60's I believed the propaganda in the news media, but then I saw what happened when the Dems stopped the funding of the South Vietnamese government. The day after we stopped our support the government fell and the communist over ran the country.

All the hard work done by our military was for not. For the next 25 years, the people of Vietnam lived in poverty and despair under an oppressive Communist government.

Now, the people who turned their backs on Vietnam are still there trying to sabotage all the good work that is being done by the military in Iraq.

There are times when you just have to stand up to your enemies. This President is making just and proper use of our military. He has single handily done more to solve the middle east problem than all the anti-military left wingers combined.

All the concessions that Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton ever gave to the enemy have accomplished nothing except to embolden them. It's time to fight.

I support the troops! In fact I was at a fair last weekend and shook the hands of each Vietnam Veteran at the booth, and thanked them for serving their country. Then I donated money.

I have also written and sent many gift packages to military personnel that are serving. And yes, I have a close family member serving now over there. I hope that soon they will come home and there is not a day that I take for granted. Thank you.

I wasn't even born when the Vietnam war was going on, but it makes me angry when I hear how the Veterans were treated when they returned home. My father-in-law, who received the Purple Heart, has told us stories about being spit on and called names. He said it was hard to deal with, but he just never allowed for that to bring him down. He once said that even with all of the injuries he received in the war, he was one of the lucky ones because he came home alive. So, to people like you and my father-in-law, know there are a lot of us out here that love you guys and Thank You for your service.
There are a lot of people that are angry at the Military for being over in Iraq, but for the most-part, even the ones that are against the war, still really do support our Armed Forces. My husband, my hero, is in the Navy, and I know how hard life can be on a Military Member, especially when they're coming home from a war. If just one stranger walked up to a solider they see in the airport and shook his or her hand and just said thanks, it would mean the world to that person. These mean and women need our support all the time, rather we're at war or not, they need Americas support.
I wish you the best. Again, THANK YOU for the sacrifices you made.

I wasn't born in the Vietnam era but i have watched many documentaries; I would like to say I'm so very sorry for every bit of humiliation and mistreatment you've ever come across in your life time. You must have been a young kid doing what was right for you and giving every living soul here in America a reason to enjoy our freedom. And that will never go under appreciated in my eyes. I could never do what you have done. God chose to use you for a reason. I'm glad you're able to be here today. Again I'm very sorry for how you were treated when you came home from Vietnam. Please know your being thought of and every other human being in this battle for freedom. I do hope you peace and happiness knowing what you did made a huge difference and still does. THANK YOU.

I am ashamed of how our troops were treated when they returned from Vietnam. Media coverage for a war was instantaneous for the first time and people were shocked at what they were seeing from Vietnam. And then, like now, the enemy didn't fight fair which, like now, led to the troops making choices they wouldn't normally make.

I have thanked anyone I see in uniform what what they have sacrified for me and our country. I do not agree with this war and I hold it against Bush for sending us there, but I'm ultimately thankful to them for following orders and doing what they signed up to do. They are being soldiers, following orders and fighting as they are told to do and for that, I'm proud. But I'd rather they be here at home.

This is for you and all the other veterans out there. We put this in the memorial program at my dad's funeral last year. 22 years, USAF, MSgt Ret. He fought in Vietnam as well and it took me over 30 years to appreciate what he sacrificed for me (and the rest of us). I miss you, Dad.

FREEDOM IS NOT FREE

I watched the flag pass by one day.
It fluttered in the breeze
A young soldier saluted it, and then
He stood at ease.
I looked at him in uniform
So young, so tall, so proud
With hair cut square and eyes alert
He'd stand out in any crowd.
I thought how many men like him
Had fallen through the years.
How many died on foreign soil?
How many mothers' tears?
How many Pilots' planes shot down?
How many foxholes were soldiers' graves?
No Freedom is not free
I heard the sound of taps one night,
When everything was still.
I listened to the bugler play
And felt a sudden chill.
I wondered just how many times
That taps had meant "Amen"
When a flag had draped a coffin of a brother or a friend.
I thought of all the children,
Of the mothers and the wives,
Of fathers, sons and husbands
With interrupted lives.
I thought about a graveyard At the bottom of the sea
Of unmarked graves in Arlington.
No Freedom isn't free!

F@%K YEAH, I support U.S. troops! Thank you to all of the American troops. (past and present) Thank you for defending freedoms of Americans you'd never meet. Without you, our USA would've been gone a LONG time ago. Those hippies were pathetic people. They (along with modern day versions) don't realize how good we really have it here. If they did their complaining in almost ANY other country, they'd be killed for speaking out against the gov't.

Old hippy here.. I never spit on anyone, nor had I ever defamed our soldiers. I did however protest those in charge.. you know them.. sitting in Washington DC, behind their desks.
My husband is also an honored Vietnam Vet.. Oh, he was an old hippy as well, who enlisted.
Support our troops, you bet!
We're in a position where we actually fight for their rights, and am able to get most of them passed.

I support our Troops 150%. My heart and prayers go out to them as well as their families here at home. And my THANK YOUS' to you, sir. When I pledge the allegiance, or sing the anthem now, I can't help but get a twinge in my heart and choke back the tears, cause I am soooooooooo proud of the people who put their lives on the line every day for us, for me. I wish I had done more when I was younger ( like joining) but now I am too old and regret it. God Bless Our Troops and may he wrap his loving arms around them and bring them safely home.
