I used jumping rope the last time I dieted and lost about 60 pounds. I didn't do "reps", I just jumped every evening until I felt I was going to die (LOL), then again the next night. I kept track of the amount of time I was able to do it and noticed a big increase over the weeks.I started out only being able to do about 5 minutes and increased that to 30 minutes. It was cheap and it worked for me.

Jumping rope is an excellent aerobic exercise if you can maintain a rhythm without tripping up a lot. You can create a mixed CD with a steady beat - not too slow - and jump for 30 minutes or so. You need to make sure you have the correct length of rope and a giving floor surface. (And no obstacles). You can injure your ankles -but that is the only thing I injured when I did this.

It is a great exercise for toning and is a great arobic exercise. i would work your way up to jumping rope for a period of time rather than a set number of jumps, vary the speed and whether you are doing right leg or left leg just keep it even and play some good music. start with five minutes and see how you do. it is a very good execise to pair up with running. the combo will definitely help you lose weight, but you have to watch the fat intake.

Fat=9 calories per gram
Alcohol= 6.5 calories per gram
Carbs/protiens = 4
Carbs and protiens are needed for exercise so do not limit that. also increase your water consumption shoot for 64oz per day, try to keep a water bottle filled with you all the time

jump rope is a good exercise if you want to lose weight. I do like 10 min. then i rest and then do some more. it gets really tiring. so maybe at first you should start with a couple of min and build it up.

it's great exercise! you have to do it for a sustained amount of time, which is hard to do. it really wears you out....unless your 8 for some reason!
