Need help/advice/tips right away!!! Friendship on the line!!!?

Here is the problem: Been freinds with a co-worker for over 3 years, we are really good freinds, you can even say best of friends. He broke up with his gf of 3 years about a month ago. And 3 days ago, as a joke, his gf and i with some other people went out. during the night we had some drinks and got kinda buzzed. we all deiced that it would be really funny if we joked around and told my friend that i asked his ex out and that she said yes. me, her and everyone else there deiced to act it out and play along with the joke. He got really really really mad at both of us and couldnt take it. He is pissed at me that i would go behind his back and ask his ex out. he doesnt believe us when we tell him it was a joke and nothing more. now he wont talk to me or even look at me. WHAT DO I DO? i want my friendship with him back. i dont want to loss a freind over a girl and a joke. what can i say or do to get his trust and forgiveness back???

1) tell him you were a di_k and that was a pus_y thing to do

2) tell him you are immensely sorry and want his forgiveness

3) back off and give him time to get over it, he's a guy he WILL get over it, but will REMEMBER it

listen playing joke on people isn't really good. tell ur friend to go to dinner with u and just explain everything to him and if he don't want to go, write him a note and put it somewere he could see it so that he could read it.

you need to apologize to him...and tell him it was a joke in poor taste and you regret it deeply. actually it was in poor taste, and it appears to me that he feels betrayed and to turn it into a joke actually belittles him...he is upset enough about things..and so you can he how he is mad and hurt...apologize to him and keep apologizing until he does realise how sorry you are...

well you kinda f*cked up there but you can get him back...if you just sit him down and talk to him...not right now...let him vent and then when he's cooled down talk to him and let him know that it was just a joke...if he doenst believe you then you need to evaluate the relationship...
