I was one of the only two female car sales people at a Toyota dealership in Knoxville Tn. It was my first sales position and I really LOVED it. I moved away and hated the dealerships in my area, but really miss Auto sales, especially for Toyota. Anyone else sell cars? What do you love/hate about it? What did you think of females in the industry? If you are no longer in auto sales but still working in sales, what kind are you doing now? Like it better/worse? What kind of people were your favorite customers? Worst? Thanks:)

My husband works for a Chevrolet dealership. He's been in sales (car sales) for 8 years. He loves getting his clients what they want, but of course landing a nice 3 pounder is always awesome. He hates the "Be Back" people, well, hate is too big a word, is annoyed by, flustered by and is tired of the Be Backs. Gotta ask the wife, yeah, right, they're not coming back. lol, He tries to maintain a positive attitude and for the most part it's comes through but sometimes, as you know, the industry hits a tough spot and sales go down, then I notice he is very downhearted. He says it's a tough career choice for ladies, but he has seen some pretty good car saleswomen that make it pretty well. His favorite customers are the personable ones that talk to him and tell him sincerely what they are looking for and how much they are willing to pay. And again, the be backs are his least favorite people, or shall I say, his non-favorite ppl.

What I don't like is when I go with some friends to the dealership and the guys there tell 3 different prices for the same car. And we are not talking about 100 dollars, we are talking about 2 or 3k, specially to women or guys who talk with foreign accent.

I do my research in Internet and if they don't want my price, I just leave them and all the crap of "I am losing money in this one" "it is less the price we paid.."

I know people who started to work in dealerships, but most of them have left it.
