Okay, I have this friend who never started really talking to me until this summer after I gave her advice on a boy she was dating.

Now she calls me at all hours of the night just randomly with no point, and she IMs me CONSTANTLY just to say "whats up?" then gets me into a convorsation then just signs off randomly.

Its more frustrating than annoying.. she's overly clingy and way to obsessive compulsive about herself and the boys she likes.

Is there a way to NICELY tell her to cool her heels a little?

Invite her over for like a sleepover or something. Try to get into like an in-depth conversation about people and then ask her to point out your faults. Most people will ask the same thing back. That would be a good way to tell her. Just be like "well it's kinda annoying when you do blank" or "well, you do blank alot and its not cool" or "sometimes you get a little clingy and OCD, maybe you should work on that" Another way to get into that conversation is if some guy doesn't like her and she asks why. After dissing the guy you could tell her "if it really bothers you alot that so and so doesn't like you, maybe you should try to be less clingy/OCD. That's what I heard him saying to his friend the other day. He is sort of right"
Good luck

It's an awkward situation, so you can be honest and straightforward, but she may or may not see it as nice. But tell her anyway.

If you are upset with her about something she is doing, yet you don't tell her, then it is your problem, not hers. Give her the chance to know how you feel--she obviously has no clue. Keep your phone turned off.

I really don't know but I know that if you block her IMs and tell her you're busy eventually she'll get the point. But it's always very awkward after that, because the person will be offended.

Be honest... if you can't talk or need to do something else, let her know. Sometimes a person just needs his or her space... nothing wrong with you for wanting some space.

Whatever you do, do not invite her to sleepover. But I agree that you should talk ro her privately and tell her what you feel/think. Be firm.

take her to a restaurant and then, in the middle of the meal, NICELY leave her there. that will do it.
