Depends YOUR own FINANCES and also how well and how long you know the person or the couple. is it family, close friend, or acquaintance (like a distant work buddy who you only see at work)?
if it's distant, then don't spend over $20 and $25 with the card(if you cannot afford to spend money or someone who doesn't deserve much then get the cheapest item under $10 on their registry and if there's nothing lef that cheap, get them a a gift certifcate or something). Go get them a Congratulations! Card. Then, either check out their Wedding Registry and pick something on it or get them a gift certificate (you cannot go wrong with that) to like a houseware store or Department store or something. Or get them a Gift Certificate at one of the Store's they're registered for gifts at.
Hope this helps!

Kitchen appliances are always good, some type of crystal ware.....have you checked out where they are registered at? Usually included in the invitation. Most places you can actually get online and view what they still need. They would probably appreciate anything on that list (usually includes things with a variety of prices from low to high). If it is not too late, you can order the gift from there or go to the nearest store. Try that out. If not you can always get a nice wedding card and throw some cash in there.

I let my guy register for guy things. We register for a lot of electronic equipment and home entertainment equipment. We also registered for an electric drill and tools. Its not all about pink doilies. See where and what they are registered for and pick a quality gift you know they would need and use. The fondue pot will collect dust but a casual place setting will always be used. So my answer is something practical that costs about 25 dollars for an average couple, Now there are some out there who register for the most expensive stuff and have well off families but you can still stay practical with that too. If you know them well get them something they have not registered for but you know both of them would enjoy, like tickets to a sports game or concert. I love going to Spurs games. My husband and I would totally love a gift like that.

Ah, the joy of registries. Any couple with any intelligence is registered at several stores. Find a family member who knows what the stores are, go on-line, check the section titled "Registries", type in the bride or groom's name and, like magic, you'll see everything they want from that store. Pick something you'd like them to have from you, and you're set. Most of the stores have a good price range -- from like $10 to $1,000. If you can't find anything in your range at the first store, just go to the second one. Or the third. Trust me, it's sooooo wonderful to shop this way.
Life is so easy these days.

I always see where they register and find what they scanned for things they wanted.
so, then I can judge how much I can fork out at the same time, respectful of their wish list.
For my wedding, if someone bought us candles let say, a whole 10 bucks worth, I would not even care bout the price. It is about knowing they cared enough to get us something and love it anyways.

Most couples are registered somewhere (i.e. Target, Bed Bath and Beyond) so you can start there.
How well do you know the couple? If you know them really well, I would spend $75-$150, depending on your budget. If you don't know them very well, $40-$60.

Anything from the regestry is a great gift.
Anything not on the regestry is rude.
Period.
How much to spend, depends on your relationship with the coupple. Closer relationship = more money.

I would say it depends on your financial situation and if you are taking a guest w/ you and your relation to the couple getting married. I typically give around $50.00 ish. If i had more or made a nice salary i would give around $100.00.
