Depends on the circumstance. If the "killer" had no intention of harming anyone innocent, but it happened anyway, then I would say that the person has every right to be proud--those are the vagaries of war. If the person shot the kids on purpose then I don't think they have a right to be proud because they were both bad human beings and bad soldiers, their actions were purposefully inimical to the mission.

The military is a mirrior of the society that that its members come from. The same proud citizens that enjoy life in the private sector are the same type of proud citizens that stand tall to protect those very same citizens. You are a Civilian and more civilians kill more people than the military has.

What does that make you?

Are you proud?

At last check, my kid count was Zero. My total people count was... Zero.

You no more blame the entire military for the faults of a few than you blame all of America for the faults of the criminals.

In these times they will use "kids" to their advantage. They hide behind them like a shield and will even force them to commit terrorist acts. It is not the children's fault but the leaders and that is who the good countries of the world are trying to destroy. Innocents die in every war and if you think this is the first time a child has been killed by a country in the wrong you are sorely mistaken. Instead of sticking your nose into conflicts you know nothing about why not try to do some good for a change. If you feel so bad for them, send them flowers because they don/'t give a damn about your opinion because your opinion means nothing.

More kids in the 3rd world know to field strip a AK-47 than use toliet paper. If he has a book or a lunch box, then he is a civie. If he has a RPG pointed at a Humvee, He's a combatant!!

SImple as that......

In Africa today, most troops used are children. They are orphans or kidnaped into armies in places like Liberia or Ruwanda. They can kill, rape, and mutilate as well as a any 19yr old. Hezboliah has many willing recruits waiting to be suicide bombers and get their virgins while here in the US, our kids are reading Teen People.....

It is not a matter of pride, but by the very nature of your question you would not understand that.
I am proud of those who step up to the plate and do a dirty horrible job on behalf of the rest of us, making split second life & death decisions that can affect them for the remainder fo their lives, (If they live). You do not seem to have the perspective that it is likely that on the whole, many Americans have died or been injured because they have hesitated to take action against civilians. They have shown more interest in protecting non-combatants than the opposition who deliberately uses them as just another expendable resource in their war arsenal.

Are the kids trying to kill me? Everyone in a war zone is a combatant. The shame is to send ground troops into a country that will die for no reason other than to further one greedy mans desire for more power. America should be out of Iraq or Iraq should be the 51st state. Israel should get out of Lebanon or Syria and Iraq should man up and help hezzbollah defeat them. Ask the vietnam veterans if they were proud of killing kids who tried to kill them.

This question calls for "flaming" but I'll try to resist. No country in history has ever gone to such extremes to try to avoid killing civilians of any age as America and Israel have. I don't know why people can't see that. Do you know, or care, what horrible things the other side has done in dozens of countries all around the world?

Maybe I got it wrong. Surely you must have meant this question for the people who routinely blow up buses, shopping centers, and public areas killing civilians and children on a regular basis for decades, and who capture innocent non-combatants and cut their heads off. Yes, I must have got it wrong. Nobody could be so stupid as to completely turn that around.

You need help with your PTSD, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
PTSD is a mood disorder that you must take very seriously. Go to the VA and register and ask for a PTSD screening. Tell them how you feel, or if you do not feel anything except anger. But, whatever you feel, go to the Veterans Administration Medical Center in your area and sign up for care. VA 1-800-827-1000 ? Disabled America Veteran

Did the children have bombs or guns on them? How many of my friends were killed by the terrorist that they shield behind them?
Civilians get killed in wars including children, the pride in defending country should not & does not change because of
deaths of civilians.

This has been the way of war since the beginning of time. Sad but no way to change. Hiroshima was not child free.

One went to the military to protect his/her country and not to kill children! However, in a war a lot of things can happend -incl. killing of children. This needs to be taken in consideration once the military is joined.
