I see this question on Yahoo, or a variant thereof, all the time. All I can tell you is that, ultimately, guys want the same things that girls do... love, security, emotional support, etc. However, guys are also just as insecure as girls when it comes to figuring out how to get those things. The main difference, as far as I can discern, is that guys and girls go about getting what they ultimately want in a different manner. Men seem to use love to get sex while women use sex to get love. Some men, and some women, are just jerks. You will need to develop a facility for weeding out the jerks from the decent people. For some folks, that is a tough trick to master.

From what I've observed in 48 yrs, most American guys are pretty shallow when it comes to relationships... They want a maid, love slave, trophy woman, angel when he's with company that he wants to impress but a devil who can't get enough sex in the sack... For far too many men, they feel "entitled" and as thought the world revolves around them and that it's ALL about them... But, that's not what love and emotional intimacy is about (and most of them apparently couldn't care less... Just as long as they can catch the game on the tube, got a fridge full of beer, and someone to pick up after their lazy butt...!)...
Somewhere out there, there's a bunch of nice guys pining away for a nice girl, but she's usually trying to land the bad boy and wondering why she feels so miserable all the time...
