You need to have the police report case number. If you have the case number you can go to your city's Office of Public Records (the title of the office may vary...but it is usually in a city hall). They would also be able to help you do a SEARCH to find out what the case number is...but you will need information (like...person's names whom are involved, date it happened, etc).
Another way is to go to the courthouse (where the police report would have been filed) and go to the Clerk's office. You usually can do this by mail or going to the actual location.
You can probably find SPECIFIC information for your location through a City Hall's "information" phone number (or website). All City Hall's have one...they are usually called Resident Advocates or somewhere along that title.
The police department usually does NOT want to handle giving out case numbers (unless you were involved...then they are required to notify you of a case number). But if you aren't involved and just want a case number for someone else AND they are willing to be helpful to you (which is a HUGE if) they can direct you to getting a copy.
Hope this helps!

A police report is public record. If you want a copy of one usually there is a small fee under $10 just go to the police department and let them know you want a copy.

it depends on what kind of police report you need...say you had an auto accident then you can usually call the police dept who wrote up the incident report...and get one from them...if you need to see what's on your criminal record then you can get a copy of your background check from your local towns police station...hope this helped!

Go to the police department and ask for one. You will probably need to know the incident number and may have to fork over a little cash for it. I know they charge 10 bucks for one where I live.

I am thinking go to the local precinct and just request one. A fee may be involved, but if I am not mistaken that's all you have to do. Oh you may need the officer name who took the report.
