Yes, it is normal, it will take you a couple of days to get used to it. It is supposed to hurt your teeth, that is how you know that it works. In a couple of days the pail will stop. My dentist recommended me using special solution to numb the pain.
Hope this helped

If your teeth have shifted a lot then, yes it will hurt because the retainer is trying to reshift them back. From me, it hurts for a couple of hours then the pain goes away.

When I got a retainer I don't remember any pain besides a little pinching. It just was really difficult to eat. However I wasn't old enough to use a computer at the time so I don't know if it would hurt more if you are older. If it gets worse, you could call your dentist.
My sister said that it hurt her at first but then it went away, but she doesn't remember very well either.

It is normal to have some shifting of your teeth, so when you do where your retainer they are put back where they are supposed to be, so it will cause some tenderness for a little while.

It should not hurt for a retainer. It is the last of the treatments done on people who have been in and had their braces off!

i'm guessing so because when i first got braces they didn't hurt,BUT later after they had been on for a little bit...it was total torture.I say the retainer will act the same way.At first,it won't hurt...Later, it will,BUT will eventually go away just like the pain from your braces did.
